My daughter had her baby boy 5 weeks early. She had sudden onset pre-eclampsia, to the extent that she had two seizures. Fortunately she'd managed to get herself to the hospital before she had either of them so she was in good hands. She had to have an emergency caesarian and was then flown by air-ambulance to the ICU in Calgary. Baby was delivered at a respectable 4lb 7oz and was then flown by aeroplane to NICU in Calgary. Mother and Baby are doing well although still in Calgary while Baby is being monitored.

Huge congratulations Kerfuffle and glad your daughter is doing well. Hurray for our modern medicine! :T There is actually a petition currently in North Norfolk to stop them cutting ambulance numbers as it's already too few and they want to cut it down further. Risking people's lives.

No news on debt for me, but I'm waiting for £50 from quidc0 for agreeing to appear in ch@ magazine, and I sent a few cds to a recycling site so waiting for that money to arrive too.

  • Hi all,

DH & Kids have gone on scout camp this weekend & I'm on a mission to get all my little jobs done.:D I haven't posted much on here over the past month or so - I've been reading on my phone, but don't post unless I'm on a PC and the kids have hogged it all summer.

We've had a really expensive summer, and I'm back into the dreaded overdraft :o, but now that the kids are back at school I am trying to get back on track.

I'm doing some freelance work today which I'll get paid in cash for - its not much as its for a friend, but it should stop me using the ATM until pay day. Then I'm labelling the kids outgrown clothes & toys for a NCT sale later this month. I'm gonna try listing some on ebay first though as you have to pay 30% commission to the NCT.

Is it bad form to list stuff on ebay and FB selling pages? I have a pram to sell so it would have to be a local buyer anyway. I am a bit gutted to be selling it. We really don't want any more kids, but everytime I look at it I feel emotional. Sad eh?

Hi everybody, just wanting to update my total, I'm over the half way mark, won't be debt free by Christmas but going to give it one last push.

    # 272 £2100/ £4000

congratulations to all you people who are now debt free, I so happy for you and a tad bit envious.
  • I haven't posted on this thread for months :( I've had so many up and down months it's time to re-focus.

We've taken out yet more credit in past few month but paid it all off :DAs it's paid i wont be adding it to my total debt amount.

I'm now driving so have a new car which means we have less money over a month to throw extra at debts but still have managed to stick to the original payment plans atleast. This is a first for me I'll admit. I haven't missed one payment on anything so far this year.

When I last posted in April the figures where like this £2401/7288.55. It now stands at £4321/7288.55

  • Hi everyone, hope you're having a happy weekend :)

Feeling very chuffed with myself as I've just sorted the car insurance renewal and got it down from a renewal (in OH's name) of £611.89 to a new quote in my name of £485.75 which means I have enough in the car pot to pay it in full :D

Going to celebrate by making myself my lunch and then watching the Paralympics.

I always list everything on fleabay and faceb0ok at the same time :D if I get a bid on fleabay, I take it down off faceb0ok, if I get a buyer on faceb0ok I end the listing on fleabay, it widens my audience and improves my chances of a sale I think :D

The only thing im careful of is to not accept an offer on facebook for something I have on fleabay that has no bids, watchers and less than 12 hrs to go as you cant end a fleabay auction in that time and you certainly dont want to sell it twice ;) if someone asks on faceb0ok in that timeframe i'll usually say someone else PM'ed me and im waiting for them to get back to me so will let them know if its sold later (after my auction finishes ;))

Well done! I've done similar this week and haggled my renewal down too. I had the cash to pay it off in full (I normally pay monthly) however I've put it on my 0% purchases credit card instead and sent the money to my loan (with an 8.8% rate) instead :)

Makes no difference to my debt totals but reduces the interest I pay - if only very slightly.

    Every little bit helps!

Would dearly love to hit 90% paid off next payday - will be a bit of push though for the next two weeks, best get cracking ;)

That's great advice - Thanks Jakes-mum. I have listed a couple of items tonight and will do the rest tomorrow. Fingers crossed for some sales - more to clear out the house, but of course some pennies would be handy :D

    Hello All!

Having a MSE weekend of sorts. Yesterday the kids had a free :money: session of footie then we went to the library and the supermarket. Spent £105 :eek: But that was for 2 joints of pork (roast today and in 2 weeks), 1 huge batch of beef and some other fillet of pork, also booze. It's our anniversary next week and DH is planning a thai banquet so I keep telling myself it's cheaper than a meal out :)

Today we went to the park, I went for a run, kids played on their bikes and in the play area. I got them an ice cream but we adults refrained :money: and now going to do some housework and gardening before tucking into aforementioned pork

Hope you are enjoying the sun :j
