Have you set up your own ticker?

I tried to but the numbers and %s that came up were 0, so I couldn't have done it correctly.

I'm curious what people leave themselves for a month for cash (after all DDs/SOs are accounted for) as I'm tempted to throw as much as I can towards debt.

We haven't really got a "treat" budget. Until June we did really well, no pubs (except one meal on mother's day), restaurants, days out, shopping etc. so every spare penny could be used for paying off debt and we paid off loads. It was well worth it! We set ourselves the challenge before Jan that we wouldn't go out AT ALL in 2012 and just drink wine at home at the weekend and socialise at our house or friends houses. Obviously in summer we can hit the park too for a [STRIKE]cheeky beer[/STRIKE] picnic

Since June though we have had DS's Birthday, DH's Birthday, holiday (free caravan hol but still a bit spendy) and school holidays where I have taken the kids out a bit; a farm, the odd mcd's, a trip to the paralympics :T etc. The challenge has been hugely affected, I still can't believe how much we have spent over the years on "fun" We are back on track this week and much prefer paying things off to spending in a pub!! Although we are both keen to be able to go to a pub guilt free :rotfl::rotfl:

Walking in the woods is our latest free craze  :money:

I realised today that despite paying off over £12k, we still owe about £48k and it should be just over £46k. That means we have paid £1.5k-£2k in OD/CC interest and fees (balance transfers etc) already this year!!:eek::eek:

So...I have just spent an hour looking at villas in Greece for a family of 4 for that price, not to buy, just as holiday !!!!!!. What an incentive!! One day we will actually be able to afford a foreign holiday and not be paying it to the nasty banks

  • Spendy couple of days with a planned trip to the Paralympics yesterday, and an unplanned one today. It was very good fun though and I'm so pleased I got to go! Waiting for things listed on fleabay to end, but only a couple of things look like they will sell unfortunately. Mr S is away at the moment in Siberia of all places so I'm all alone tomorrow night, so going to spend the day sorting out more stuff in the flat and catching up on the bits and bobs that have been left while I've been working manically this last week.

    Hi everybody,

Sorry, I haven't posted for a while. I've been reading and lurking and trying to keep up with everybody's news but I've been having trouble absorbing everything that's been said. Well done to everybody who have made payments, and especially to May2013 for reaching their debt free status :T:T

So I have some majorly exciting news....

My daughter had her baby boy 5 weeks early. She had sudden onset pre-eclampsia, to the extent that she had two seizures. Fortunately she'd managed to get herself to the hospital before she had either of them so she was in good hands. She had to have an emergency caesarian and was then flown by air-ambulance to the ICU in Calgary. Baby was delivered at a respectable 4lb 7oz and was then flown by aeroplane to NICU in Calgary. Mother and Baby are doing well although still in Calgary while Baby is being monitored.

I feel very blessed that my daughter is still with us as the outcome could have been very different, and my heart is just bursting with love for my Grandson who we could have lost before his life had begun.

Massive thanks go to the hospital staff, many of whom worked after their shifts had finished so that they could be there, some went home to sort things out at home before they returned back to work to be with my daughter and Grandchild.

Special thanks go to STARS emergency air-ambulance which is a charity funded by donations who were able to get my daughter to the advanced care that she needed. The average flight costs $5400.00, so I've got a fair amount of giving back to do.

So that's my news. On the DFX12 front, well my credit card has taken a bashing this month but I was able to clear it off as I do each month, it just means I wasn't able to make any additional payments to Bank of Mum and Dad. But at this moment in time, I really don't care.:)

We have budgets for everything e.g. going out etc. but in addition to that we have weekly expense budgets - £15 for DH (coffees, collections etc at work) and £10 for me (usually goes on birthday cards, unexpected minor expenses etc and any I have left goes in my sealed pot). We do go out a bit but not very often and when we do we're as economical as possible. Although we're paying off debts, there's no way we could stay in all the time - we'd go round the bend :D.
