recurrent-ostrich wrote: »Busy weekend. Still, back to the grind tomorrow. Start week 3 of my 10 week final placement tomorrow, have a job application to complete this week, so still busy, busy, busy. Am not updating my total until the end of the month when all the statements are in and loan payment had gone out, but am now sub £40K. :j Should also hit 50% of my £10K before Christmas this month too. Am really pleased that , for the first time in 10 years, our debt is going down and not up. And that is thanks to you lot, each and every one of you has been so supportive.
So: :beer:
Fantastic :j:j:j
Well done to everyone, quick update from me:

Well, my car has been written off by the floods up here!
The insurance company is paying out but I will have to spend more money to buy a new car. Very annoying as I just got this one in October.
Not sure how far behind I will be and I am not sure I will be able to clear everything by Christmas now which is a real shame. Still trying though!
Oh no, sorry to hear about your car - what a pain.sydneybean wrote: »well now there is no football or tennis to distract me i really need to get my bottom into gear and really start moving more of this debt. have sent off a couple of ppi claims although not hugely hopeful but will see.
got my council tax benefit award this morning..... the princely sum of....drum roll..........60 PENCE A WEEK:rotfl:
still it works out about £4 a month so am quite happy with that :T need to go to local leisure centre now as believe if you get ct benefit you get a nice little card giving you reduced prices for swimming etc, that will come in handy for dd during summer hols...
Don't spend it all at once :rotfl:.Well after worrying myself to death about this bloomin Axa policy I decided to ring them and talk to them about it. If I cash the thing in today I would get a payment of £6900 (ive paid in approx £5520) if I leave it to run for the remaining 22 months (I was wrong it matures in 2014) they gave me a [STRIKE]guesstimate[/STRIKE] projection of £8450 at 4% or £9030 at 8% (whatever the heck that means
)
So ive asked him to send me a letter telling me exactly how much ive paid in and the forms to surrender the policy if I want, but im now unsure what to do, do I take the guaranteed money now or hold out for a possible bit more with the understanding it could all go pear shaped :eek:
The projections are based on possible interest rate returns i.e. if they achieve an average 4% return on the investments they make with your money, you will get £8450. I had a similar policy with Axa although mine was only for 5 years - I kept money with them for 7 years as at 5 years it was making a loss :eek:. After 7 years I got all my money back that I'd paid in plus about £740 extra - I was happy with that. Only you can decide what's best for you though - you take a chance either way.

Jemma - "Awkward" as Paddy McGuinness would say :rotfl:. I think you definitely did the right thing telling your friend you just want to be friends. Although he'll be upset to start with at least you didn't leave it hanging so he knows where he stands. I think you are right to not get involved with someone just for the sake of it, if you don't think it will work. I have had various male friends (who are just friends) over the years and find that being completely honest with each other is the only way the friendship can work.Pay debt in 2012 #278 £2347/£5364
