    Hi all,
I have just checked my one cc balance which is £4119 (massive isn't it!). I am currently paying about £83 minimum payments a month and would increase this to at least £100. However, I do have a fixed ISA which is becoming available (no longer fixed) end of May which could cover the entire cc balance. So that would be one debt payed off leaving me with a personal loan, overdraft and another two cc to deal with. What do you all think? Should I use the rainy day fund to cover the cc? I assume that is the right thing to do in these circs isn't it? So hard to part with savings though...

It's a toughie, although paying it of would give you that extra money to pay towards you're other debts, or you could even put £50 to debt payments and £50 to savings to build it up again.

Arg! I don't know what to do! I'm not supposed to be having any holidays this year because of my debt-busting, but my brother has found a deal for three nights 5* in Rome in July for £300. That £300 should go towards debt, but I really wanna go to Rome!

Also - is it possible to catch tonsillitis over the internet?! My throat has started really hurting (jakes-mum :p).

Now Antonia, dont you go blaming me for sharing the love :rotfl: I thought we were all in this together, if im ill im gonna share it with the rest of you, its only fair :D

Its not a case of having to pay every penny you earn to the CC's its can you afford to go without paying with someone elses money (the holiday and spending money) whilst still paying your debt payments? No-one can answer but you :o. Taking a bit of your money for you is not falling off the wagon, or taking a step backwards, its rewarding yourself for your own hard work (wise words nicked from Kerri there :D) going, using someone elses money without a second thought is falling off the wagon.

Jakes mum hope you feel better.

Didn't get the flight ops job :( But just found out I'm getting a refund of nearly £90 from the water company, yay.

I am feeling a bit better today, so sorry about the flight job but as I always used to say to DH when he got a no letter, 'fate is telling you its not the right job for you, but your right job is coming ever closer, you just have to keep walking toward it'

I am a firm believer in things happening for a reason... I have been researching teaching again today, it's something you have to plan for in advance so it's probably the right time for me to investigate properly, especially as there is an open day at the local uni on 28th april :)

Kerri - I've been trying with the spending diary, but always forget to keep up with it after a few days... Will keep trying!

Antonia - I know the feeling but don't do it, Rome will probably be like London spending money-wise!

    Jakes-Mum- I wouldn't dare break it :A

This group has already been a good luck charm - I went into work today to find I've been given a pay rise!! Not much, but every little helps... Between this and the higher tax allowance, that's £25 more a month! Drinks are on me!! (only because they're free mind)

  • Welcome to the thread Minicooper272 :)

Jake's Mum and Kerri and anyone else ill - hope you feel better soon *hugs*

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that my DH has found another job which is good as a couple of months ago we found out his current job will be gone by June. However, the bad news is that he will be paid £2,000 less a year and will incur petrol costs much higher than his current public transport costs. This means that, barring miracles, we won't be able to pay off our debt by Christmas
:(. (And it means I won't have a car as we only have one between us - boo hoo!).

However, I know we should be very grateful that he has a job as lots of people are out of work atm. But it's disappointing when I thought we'd be debt free by Christmas :(

Yep we're in the same boat, mine got laid off a couple of months ago and luckily found work within a week but we're £800 a month worse off!! I'm really wondering what we were doing with that extra money now :o I have been working lots of overtime and we're getting by lovely but am going to tackle the 3 grand overdraught next year now instead so have lowered the amount i'm going to try and pay by xmas, good luck x
