  • Thanks tirlittan and superheavy for your advice, still don't know what to do! The thing is if I go for a more expensive bike and don't end up using it frequently it's a total waste of money. eBay is full of expensive bikes which are never used! But on the other hand if I really get in to cycling will I regret buying a cheaper bike? Oh well will give it some more thought! X

I think I'd get the cheaper bike until you know for sure that you'll really get into it. If you do end up loving it then you can always sell the cheaper bike and put the money towards a better one! xxx

Why don't you try on Freecycle, write about wanting it to keep up with the kids and say words like 'grateful' or 'please' and you never know! ;) Very MSE

BrandNewStart - "Dislike" to Student Loans Company - why do some people have to be so rude?

Pedro – well done on your race :j

Canucksfan – good luck with your scan :). Let us know how it goes.

Catmort – glad you managed to find another place to live :).

Jemma – I can’t believe that the yoga teacher laughed at you for being inflexible – that’s why people go to yoga – to get flexible! It obviously wasn’t a very good teacher.

Well folks your views would be good here. My DH has private medical insurance with his new job which is costing him £21.00 per month but the excess is £1000  which we couldn't afford even if he needs the treatment. I'm wondering whether he should just cancel it and he's not sure what to do. What do people think? Thanks for your help :T.

Thanks hun, I obviously never went back! A friend of mine used to fall asleep by the end of every session cos she was so relaxed. It used to be funny having to nudge her to stop snoring...!

Does the medical insurance only cover hospital stays etc? It seems incredibly high excess!!! If it's definitely £1000 excess for anything claimed then I'd get rid like the others have said and put the £21 in a savings account to pay for any treatment or just whack it against one of your debts! xxx

Thanks for the mega update Jemma, and keeping us on the straight and narrow :A
    A tiny fleabay sale makes.
Edit- decided to raid my Sealed Pot (Ssssh) too and pay to CC so now
    No. 069 £4945 / £7719 = 64.06%

Plus a bonus is that I noticed that I'm over my target for my SPC5, and I've still got half a year to go! Those pennies (and 2p,5p,10p,20p and 50p's) do make pounds.

Well I went to the running club again last night and pushed myself hard but luckily I didn't feel sick later so I must be getting better! Although, it was really humid last night and one of the women fainted on the track...

I'm still undecided about whether to sell my garmin 410 and get a 110 or not... I guess there's no rush.

My friend gave birth to her 2nd baby boy last night so it was lovely to wake up to gorgeous photos on facebook and a text to let me know that mum and baby are doing well. That reminds me, where is Choclover????? Good luck in your scan today Canucksfan and I hope your night shift wasn't too draining xxx

I agree with this... plus, you would have to get into cycling REALLY seriously to need a better bike :)

I'd go for the cheaper bike to start of with. If you really do get into your cycling later on, you can either sell it, or use it as your run-around bike. You don't really need a mountain bike, unless you start mountain biking, and then you don't want to use your mountain bike on the roads.
    DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!
Proud to have dealt with my debts!
  • Thankyou guys! You are all very sensible and wise! I knew i'd get the best advice from you all! I think I'll order the Pendleton bike. I saw it in the shop yesterday and it is absolutely lovely and won't break the bank! If in a few years till I discover that I am in fact the next chris boardman or lance armstrong I'll sell the house and get something a bit more flash!! (not really likely!)
It's going to be nice just to go out with the hubby and kids and be able to keep up. Plus will do the waistline a little good as well!
