dont knock a caravan holiday in the UK :rotfl: we did it this year with the kids and they had a brilliant time :D (as did we :D) we paid for one of the nicer caravans and it was bloomin toastie in there, had a tv/DVD player, nice kitchen and though the weather was appalling at times, we happily cwtched up in one of the arcades or cafes, and it didnt half make it more fun for me thinking it cost me £300 in total for the 4 of us instead of the £3k+ it would have cost for us to go abroad that I could have spent on me debt :D and more fun for the kids as mum wasnt constantly 'its too expensive' and stressing over money :D

Thanks hon. I know it makes sense. And maybe 2013 will be a fantastic long, hot summer! :rotfl:Have my sealed pot still going for next summer's treats, so maybe we'll be able to have loads of icecreams from that. :D

I always hope that too :rotfl:, I actually enjoyed caravaning so much ive let them talk me into getting the tent down I won last year and try camping
Oooo icecreams on the sea front, can beat that :T. Depending on the ages of your kids, the havens/park resorts are just as good as butlins and a darned sight cheaper. We did park this year and there was a pool on site and a little lounge bar with arcade and entertainment (which I only found on the last night due to us running out of loo roll and it being sunday so was looking for somewhere to 'ahem' borrow some :o)

Sorry, hon, not my cup of tea at all. :rotfl:Mind you, my middle boy said the other day, "Mummy, people at school say Butlins is amazing". I can't bear the idea of it, let alone actually going. I'm sure i'll find somewhere nice that isn't quite as.......Butlins-y. ;)

(Am aware that I'm a horrid snob about some things, it's fine I know. Had a hideous experience at a Haven site a few years ago with hundreds of chavs with badly done tattoos, big beer bellies, and crates of beer, swearing loudly at their kids and spending all of their holidays getting sunburnt during the day, getting hammered in the club at night and then rolling back at 3am having huge domestics outside my van. Never again! )

:eek::eek::eek::eek: never had that, though we do tend to pick the smaller parks a bit further away from the attractions (so you have to drive) plus paying for the top level caravan (that has to be the strangest sentence ive ever written :rotfl:) we seem to stay away from them :o ugh, not sure id want to deal with chavs, though DH's mere presence seems to scare people away from us :rotfl:

Just a quick update! I've been selling some stuff from my loft which has been there since I've moved. If I've not used it in nearly 4 years and it's not sentimental, why am I storing it?:rotfl::rotfl:

I've been doing superpoints daily and that's been helping too as the little extra paypal payments soon add up. :D Did my tax credits renewal too and got £1500 payment. Paid off a large chunk of my card but to be honest, being a bit cautious with that as they then said they made a mistake a few years ago and I ended up with a £3k overpayment to pay back. Anyway, onwards and upwards! A NSD here but did have to start buying school uniform yesterday. £63 for a few items with the logo on.....the rest will be supermarket stuff I'm thinking in August!

    #98 £1100/£2100

Hi Novagirl, sounds like you have been doing loadsa good stuff :j Can you invite me to superpoints please? This sounds like a really good idea for me. Pm me if you need to.
I need to do our tax credits renewal. I hope we get an overpayment, that would be great! :-)

Thanks all. Have had serious chat with hubby and we've decided to not have holidays for a couple of years. I've been reluctant to stop having foreign trips as we both work in very stressful jobs and it's our fortnight of relaxing and having family time.

We can have a few weeks away in the UK, shivering, in our caravan, can't we? ;)

There are fab bargains to be had in the UK, especially self-catering when you can make it as cheap as you want and if you get the weather, you can, in theory, have a beach holiday. The last two Mays we've been to Tenby and spent half the week on the beach. Not so lucky this year in June though :p

Tried camping once - sitting in a tent on top of a very windy (gale force, I'm sure) cliff in N. Scotland was not my idea of fun :rotfl:

Random question here but mum & dad are away on holiday and when we popped over on Saturday, the milkman had left 2 pints of milk. I don't really like whole milk as a rule but have/will use it to make custard or rice pudding. How long will it last opened/unopened? I buy my milk in plastic bottles with a use by date, these glass bottles with no info confuse me :o
