Training? What's that? I didn't do anywhere near enough, but we did the Lemosho trail which is the longer one but you get more time to acclimatise. The worst bit was the final summit... you stop at the bottom for dinner and rest, get up at 11.30pm to start climbing a steep hill covered in scree, in the pitch black and freezing cold. 6 hours later you reach the top, but then have to walk another bit to get to the sign as it's a blind summit. I was aching in every single muscle and was struggling to breath with the lack of oxygen. Even the rest of the group (some of which cycle across norfolk for fun) struggled. But it's definitely an experience :D

I'm hoping to do a marathon in Summer next year, but I'm not sure how much it will help! The last time I was at 6000m I got horrible altitude sickness, vomiting and all. I was given weird drinks by strangers with sticks and twigs in, which were supposed to help. When I started feeling better, I've never been so high in my life! :rotfl:

My Fitness Pal. It's a weight loss/calorie counting website, I'm finding it a bit addictive at the moment!

I enter them all through this site as the compers are very good at weeding out the spammy sites, warn you about the sneaky tick boxes etc. Go to the main forum page and go down the list to competition time, you can even sort the competitions by end date :)

What I will say is open a specific live or google email for comping as some comps do insist on you signing up to their news letters, makes it easier to sift though, plus dont be scared of twitter or facebook, ive done well out of those sites for prizes, my favourite being 4 goodyear tyres for my car last year :rotfl:

I use Nuun hydration tabs when I'm running or mountain biking. No calories, and nice flavours. Easy to take on hols too, they come in little tubes and dissolve into water.

But yeah, can't wait! Spending a week on a beach in Zanzibar to recover afterwards :D

p.s. how cold is the camping? Do I need a proper winter sleeping bag?

Think I might aim for a 'no spend on credit' next month as since I've joined this thread we've spent a staggering £2332! I'm so disappointed as I'd be so far ahead if we hadn't spent it!
