Wohooo 900SB!!!
It's amazing how many you can get when you let your 6 year old 'play' on this 'special website that mummy has that gives out sweets"
It's like my own sweatshop0 -
Hi all, just wanted to say thank you for all the supportive messages. Suzitiger, that is how I see it really - all related with me. I will try the radio Kerri!
I have got a week off now which I have been dreading a bit. Am alone in my folks house and it's my birthday on Sunday and have nothing organised! Hey ho it doesn't matter, it's only a day and I can always ride my bike. I have managed to tidy up a bit this morning which does help, and I am going to get some exercise this afternoon hopefully. I need to try and focus on the positives some more and look at what I want life to be like and then make it like that.
Weather can be a big influence on my moods. I find this house dingy and am forever putting lights on etc (Not great moneysaving I know!) to help raise my mood.
I know some people do treat this as a bit of a taboo, but I have made a decision to be more open and honest about it as I find it helps. I am rubbish at asking for help so I am trying to do that more too.
Everyone doing really well with their debt on here is inspiring, and prompts me to find loads of ways to save. One I have been thinking about is my car - I have a Focus atm which is quite expensive per month and on insurance. Maybe I could sell it for a cheaper one until I clear my debt? Not sure if this wouldn't be a false economy.
Sorry I can't remember everyone's names to thank you all for your posts but I mega appreciate it - you are all lovelyDebt paid off: £19,999 Debt remaining: NONE!!:money::eek::):j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

Happy Pay Day to all us monthly debt repayers :j
I have had to re jig my finances after a spendy month of birthdays and (Horror) maybe a bit too much slackening of my hold on the budget
I have paid off my mbna cc with OD as it will be cheaper and slightly increased T CC to limit as it is 0%. So I am starting again with payments to T CC & OD from next pay day. New balance is :
#234 £6,506/£12,468
Thankfully I am still over 50% paid off. I may struggle to make it but I am still in with a chance to be at the finishing line by XmasDebt Free. Have my Van.Find dream

Brandnewstart - I really empathise as I struggle too. I have found "The Mindful Way through Depression" by Mark Williams et al very useful. It gives a tool kit of ways to help yourself change your thinking when the going gets tough. It includes a meditation cd.
As others have posted there is a big link between how we feel and our spending habits and it is hard to control that. I am going celebrating pay day today by a little charity shop shopping spree to get my spendy fix on the cheap
Jakes-mum - Wahoo to your loan being paid off! I was the same always going from loan to loan, consolidating debts etc. Thanks to this challenge this is the first time I am really paying debt off and not just building more debt elsewhere. Your post made me realise that I hadn't even considered getting a loan now that I KNOW I am really paying this debt off forever :T
Congratulations to everyone making their new milestones :ADebt Free. Have my Van.Find dream

Nicole I love it you have found a way for children to repay you! Love it!
VW camper vanmum - The old adage its not a race. Its getting there that counts
Brand new start - Kerri was so right for the radio though i have a guilty pleasure of Jermery Vine and then switching to radio 4. I've turned into an archers fan then the afternoon play and then the debate program, be it money box, gardeners question time or medical matters! I'm acting as least twice my age!
Have you tried subscribing to podcasts? Great for background noise0 -
Hi all,
Well I'm back from Benidorm! Well I came back on Sunday night but its taken me all week to catch up on my sleep.:o I had a fab time, partied all night for 2 nights & even made it to breakfast too (I cannot turn down free food :rotfl:) I even came back with 70 Euros so not as expensive as I thought.
I'm off to catch up with the 15 pages of posts that I've missed.....I may be some time....
Hope everyone is OK

Yay!! I have reduced my student overdraft for the first time!!!
Debt update:
# 338 £801/3486 = 22.98%
There is a chance I'll need to transfer a bit out of my savings account later in the month making this go down, as this overdraft reduction has left me with about £30 spare for any emergencies... I'll leave it in the savings account for now, as it's at least accruing a little interest there!0 -
Well that didn't take as long as I thought!:D
Welcome to the new members & well done to everyone for their payments - there are some fab percentages and totals being reported. :T I think I need to up my game. Do we have a total for May yet? I bet it was a great month.
Fallenwiccan - fantastic news about your OHs mam.
Choclover - you must be almost due now. Please post some piccys - I love looking at baby pics.Well done on the washable nappies purchase - I used them for both mine & saved sooo much money. I like to think I did my bit for the environment too!
BrandNewStart - well done for your payments to your ex. At least by clearing that debt first, you'll have closure on that part of your life & hopefully you can move on. I hope you've had a better couple of days & have managed to get out of the house. I love Kerfuffles suggestion of dancing like no one is watching. I am gonna try this sometime soon. Hugs to you
Kerri - if I'd have known you were near Nuneaton last week I'd have waved! Gosh I wish I could get paid for doing nothing sometimes, lol. You must NOT buy that sewing machine. Montreal sound exciting, especially as you can meet up with your OH.
Jemma - I hope the sunburn has calmed down - I burnt my wrist in Spain & its just started to peel. Its yucky. No danger of getting sunburnt here this weekend though. Great to hear that your garden is paying dividends. My courgettes & beans are still growing well, but it looks like it will be a while til I get any produce.
psychopathbabble - I'm not sure what or where HK and BKK is, but I hope you had a great time.
seriousDFW - have a fab time in New York. I went about 5 years ago & would love to go back one day. Don't feel guilty about putting your DFD back a bit - you still need to have a life too.
minicooper272 - I's stick to the zumba - it sounds like a good laugh & if you're anything like me, I'd always find any excuse not to go to the gym on my own & then its a waste of money. I use my wiifit and also go cycling & jogging. Its free & I actually enjoy it more than the gym. I can't persuade DH though so we still pay for him.
Nicolewild - well done on getting cap1 to freeze the interest. At least you know that your balance will definately be going down now. Do you have free calls at the weekend/ evenings - could you save your long chats til then? Or try a kitchen timer every time you make a call & set it to say 5 mins to remind you not to chat too long. DH has been known to ring the doorbell to get me off the phone...
Pedro - great to "see" you back Well done on the weight loss - feel free to pass on some tips - I put on 2lb this week.:o:o
Jakes mum - woo hoo on paying off your loan!! That must be a great feeling - AND 50 % too. :T
Karrie - I hope your dad is OK.
Well I've had a mixed week on the debt busting. I have been a VERY bad girl and have ordered DH an ipad for his birthday and fathers day.BUT I bought a reconditioned Ipad 2 so cheaper than the new price & he is a real gadget freak and will love it. Almost £90 appeared in my account this week from dividends that I forgot about & I found a fiver in my jeans pocket this morning so I'm just waiting for the 3rd piece of good luck now (perhaps 6 numbers on the lottery) :rotfl:
It appears that summer came and went while I was in Spain (sigh) and we have a Jubilee picnic in the park orgainsed for Monday which is looking like rainStill, it should be fun for the children - I have such fond memories of 1977 (no old jokes please) and I want my two to have the same. I need to make cupcakes tomorrow & DH is making scones as our contribution to the food. Its not gonna help the diet!:o
I have 2 whole school fee free months now so paid £1500 off the Virgin cardI am aiming for 60% at the end of July....

Oh I was such a naughty girl tonight! convinced DH to take us out to dinner at Fr*nkie and B*nnys
I just sooooo couldnt be bothered to cook
Well im £70 lighter but I really did enjoy it. I have said before that I want to go out to dinner once a month as our 'treat' so said tonight was Junes treat but we will now go back to the beefeat*r as its about £20 cheaper to eat there!
Also took Jake and his freinds swimming for Jakes birthday treat this afternoon, for the grand sum of . . . £8.90 so feel that as I would normally spend at least £30 - £40 on this I can offset the cost against the dinner :rotfl:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000
