Hi folks - room for one more? Having just helped my brother clear my late mother's small house I realise what a nightmare ours would be for anyone to try to deal with. Been here 25 years and the attic still has boxes that moved here with us. Place is very cluttered, and all cupboards and drawers are stuffed full. Paperwork - yes I keep it, but exactly where? Who knows? Where do I start? I work full-time, and spend most evenings sitting shattered waiting for bedtime. Could do more at weekends, but then it'd the normal round of washing, shopping, etc. I need help.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
RIght I'm finished for the night. Got nearly 2 binbags from girls bedroom after deciding just to tidy and dump 'rubbish' will sort their toys etc when we FINALLY split the bedroom, which hopefully will be sooner now as spoke to dh today and he has agreed that I should ring an electrician to do the lights! My dh isn't tight but hates paying anyone for something he THINKS he can do himself!
Anyhow just going to have a little surf, waiting for girls to ring when they get out of high school musical show, read a little then have a whole nights undisturbed sleep.
They have just rung had a good time except little one (3) said it was too loud to start with and at the end the basket balls made her jump and cry! Bless. It's amazing how someone who makes as much noise as she does can say something is too loud! Nite everyone, rest for another day of clearing!!!Need to sort my life out! :T0 -
Pats on the back for all the productivity today!
I spent the afternoon going through my 1990's photo crate, I knew this would be the worst one as it was the most full!
I did two passes and could "only" get it down to a 22cm stack. I did so much travelling in that decade, and the pictures are quite special to me. It's still a vast improvement on a whole crate load though.
Final crate 2000's to be sorted tomorrow. Then when I see what I have, I'll decide what to DO with the ones that are left!
Sleep well after all your hard work people!0 -
Well.. what are we all flinging today???
I need to go finish the girls room though I feel the boys room beckoning as it is always so much easier to do.. and I am lazy!!
I have a bit of flinging to do in the kitchen and I'll then haul the other dryer out of the middle room and install it on the work surface inthe kitchen.. IF I can reach the buttons.. failing that I might just deposit it in the corner inthe middle room.. actually I'll do that.. then the radiator in the middle room will be free'd up for more laundry hanging.. and I'll have a space to start sorting in there... I now have 6 rooms on the go in my head!!!!!!!!!!
I'll have a cuppa and a shower and another cuppa before I start I think.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Morning, Pigpen!
I am trying to tackle and sort the stuff I dumped in the hall from yesterday's blitz of the apare room. Feel less motivated at the moment because it is such a HUGE pile.Am chucking the kids out in the sun, and trying to get on with it. Am trying to motivate myself by thinking of a walk this afternoon! That and some chocolate.
But good idea... will begin with a cuppa! There, feel better already. Thanks.

I am always admiring my work like that after I've done something! :rotfl: You've earned it!
Beemuzed - welcome! Lots of people here will relate to what you've posted about how to find the time to tackle stuff. Maybe you could try to tackle just one small thing most evenings and do it slowly, or try to free up a weekend for a big blitz?
Pigpen - it is quite scary to read you've been at this for 6-7 years? Not constantly I hope?!
Just one target for me today, yep you guessed it, the crate of photos from the current decadeIt shouldn't be as bad a job as the 1990's one was. Thank you for all your support on here, you must get fed up with me talking about this one job! There is light at the end of the tunnel now.

With you on that one there Caz!
I went out on my own this morning and just got back. Not chucking anything today as I have a lot of driving ahead of me but I bought a couple of sausage rolls from a local butcher yesterday and just had one with a cup of coffee. Hmmm.
When I was very young, my Mum used to take me shopping down the high street, and we used to have a large store that had toys on level 3 and a cafeteria on level 4 where they served coffee and sausage rolls! Today brought the memories back.
I was always a good boy (as far as I remember) so I got my treat and I got to look at the toys too!
Now where did I put those toys.....Gordon Brown ate my hamster0 -
