Well I've finally tackled my pantry - everything off the shelves and given them all a good clean and all the food has been put back, Found a few dodgy things that had to be binned (packet sauces with a best before of 2006 - yuk!) but surprisingly there wasn't as much to bin as I had expected. I now have a much clearer idea now of what we have in the cupboard which will help with meal planning
I have some from 2000.. and they are fine.. used a toffee sauce mix for bananas the other day.. delish..except the bananas made me feel ill like they always doLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi, I keep reading this thread thinking, I really must get started!
I am going to start tomorrow. OH offshore and my 2 DD's are off to see High School Musical at the Theatre with their auntie and staying the night!! Woo hoo - on my own, peace and quite! I do like them really but I'm sure most of you would understand. I'm starting with their bedroom!!! Toys, clothes, shoes the lot! I will leave them something to play with - I promise! They get picked up at 3, have to do a couple of things so will start about 4 and will not come out until done! No, not really. After reading this thread I think I will do ½ hour stints, do something else for ½ hour and then back again.
I will update tom night and hope I have accomplished something.
Thanks for the inspiration and heres hoping it rubs off!Need to sort my life out! :T0 -
Taffy are you getting rid of their 'stuff' or just putting it away ?Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Taffy.. I am hoping to work my way through the girls room this weekend as well.. it is like nothing on earth .. honestly it is literally knee deep in junk which is some accomplishment in a room 16ft square!!!!!
I also have some boxes still packed from when we moved here 31 months ago.. a couple I know can go.. some others need shelves.
Today we have got rid of... A WALL!!!!!!!! lol.. seriously!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Ellidee I will be 'binning, charitying!, ebaying and donating to DD2's old creche'. It would be much easier to bin everything but I just couldn't part with it! Hopefully ebay a bit, will have to hide in the garage and sort when they are at school/nursery as if they find it it will end up back in their bedroom! The reason for the 'big clearout' is that we were supposed to have moved last sept, my buyer pulled out 5 days before exchange and completion. Anyhows, got over that, and the bill from solicitors and we have decided to stay where we are. Only prob not enough room (obviously reason for moving) We are making the girls room into 2 smallish rooms but not tiny and knocking the garage into the kitchen, its an integral garage, so next door to the kitchen. Only prob is both bedroom and garage are so full of rubbish we can't do either and it's doing my head in!
I've gone on enough, sorry once I start it's hard to stop, Good luck pigpen, from what I've read you really can't have many more rooms left. That will be me one day, it will, it will!Need to sort my life out! :T0 -
by the way pigpen, what wall do you have to get rid of?Need to sort my life out! :T0

Taffy so will the garage be knocked through to give you a bigger kitchen ? Sounds a good idea to give you more space. What a horrible thing to happen to you when your buyers backed out and left you with solicitor's bill. The system needs changing in England - I think they do it better in Scotland.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. Yeah, we will prob knock garage into kitchen and have a big kitchen/diner or have a smaller archway and have a seperate kitchen and dining room. My choice is the first. I agree the system in Scotland is much better, you live and learn. Got very upset and was also not very nice to live with for a while, suddenly realised my poor dh and dd's were not at fault, but it's always those closest who get it in the neck. I did make it up once I realised what a b**?! I was being. They still love me so it's all ok.Need to sort my life out! :T0
