  • Ahhhh...decluttering...doesn't it feel good :D

I've done a fair bit of decluttering over the past three years or so, but am on a really intense decluttering spree at the moment...looking hard at the things I am keeping - Do I really want it? Why am I keeping it? Can I sell it on eBay? Would one of my friends or someone in the family want it? If no to all of the above it off it goes off to the charity shop - I'm sure Freecycle can be very worthwhile, but the bigger items I've never had a problem finding a home for, and the smaller items go to the charity shop if no home is found.

And our eBay profits will be split between the savings account and spending money for our next holiday :)

I do think that OH is starting to worry that if something is not nailed to the floor I will try to get rid of it :D

Sorted out few of my clothes for ebay/charity/recyling bin. While the boys out today i sorted out playdough sets, jigsawsetc thatthey don't use and have another sack for charity, plus nicer stuff for reception class at school. It feels really good the only trouble is i keep going round the house now wanting to chuck more stuff out!lol

Dobs, I do the same, I'm always on the lookout for something to sort out at the moment.

What are people's thoughts on "memorabilia" type items? I've kept stuff like travel tickets and various bits and pieces from my travelling days. Basically they just sit in a box and I never look at them! I'm not hugely attached to them, but obviously stuff like that is irreplaceable. I'm wondering whether to just free up the space by getting rid.

Thanks Ellidee, it's just a box of travel tickets, entrance/event tickets, some postcards, leaflets and guides - all paper-based stuff. I'll never have the patience to make it into any kind of a project. I'm inclined to get rid of the lot, it's just this nagging voice in the back of my head wondering if I would regret it someday...!

I'm in! My house is disgusting. There is so much stuff in here that it is dragging me down.
We're redecorating the lounge and DH was needing some stuff that he asked me to get out of the shed. I cannot find anything in there. It is absolutely stuffed to the brim with rubbish.
I have 20 rolls of wallpaper that I bought for my old flat and never used. They're too heavy to post and sell via ebay. I will try to contact a charity that decorates places or helps people with no money but I think I may just shove it on freecycle. I have an electric cooker to get rid of. Masses of kids toys too. I have made a start. Since the new year I have been chucking out stained/soiled/unloved clothes as they come out of the wash. Things which don't fit can go straight out.
I really want to get a handle on this as I can't live like it any more.

Back in a few days to update!
