MOAM.. I put the general area of the town in the post but am not giving out my postcode to complete strangers on the net.. how ludicrous is that.. i may just be going to get booted off the local freecycle site.. PMSL... That is almost as class as being kicked out of brownies.. (yes I was).. I could in all feasibility give them any postcode other than my own.. they have no way of checking it really.. so how will that deter spammers from posting? unless it is a bot thing.. simple.. it won't!

PigPen, I wonder if they are concerned about out-of-area freecyclers grabbing stuff and then car booting it
Although if you give a false postcode then the mods wouldn't know.

I just wanted to say..I am so proud of myself today!

Have been on a mad de-clutter for the last couple of days. Today I feel like I have achieved so much. I went through all my uni stuff for the past 2 years and basically threw it all out, bar a couple of good essays which I am keeping for sentimental reasons.

Also condensed my two large bookshelves into one..and put the empty one in front of the window with my beloved houseplants on top (all on homemade humidity trays :D) and all my plant paraphernalia/books on the lower shelves. It looks so beautiful and my plants are appreciating the microclimate!

I have thrown out bags and bags of stuff and the rooms are looking amazing already. Really caught the bug! I will be implementing the FLYlady routines as soon as my declutter mission is finished. Planning a big push this weekend to get it done! Feels so good to be getting things under control.

I haven't heard of a freecycle mod wanting a specific post code, but maybe it's region-specific.

As far as the boot sale problem goes, as long as it's out of my house, I don't care so much if someone else makes a profit from my junk. I usually donate miscellanous stuff to the charity shops down the road, though, before I put it on freecycle.

My declutter has rather stalled as I want to sell a lot of my items but either they're not selling on Amazon or I don't really want to put them on Ebay, so got a room full of boxes at the moemnt.

That is down to the giver to sort out I think.. but the mods specifically said they wanted it to stop spammers.. I posted on the site saying they weren't getting mine due to data protection.. most of my large junk has gone anyway so I am more than happy to not be a member any more if that is what they choose.. which after the uproar I just caused with others saying they weren't giving their details and other members being removed because they refused to give the information.. I wouldn't be shocked.. mad really considering they asked me if I wanted to be a moderator about 2 years ago!! lol.. Crazy!!

I don't care what peole do with my stuff once it is out of my house either.. out is good!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Out (at last)

Old fridge freezer which is now excess to requirements as we have two others since merging the houses. Mum is mourning its loss. I have offered it on freecycle but its on the driveway so if I don't get any offers - I will get the council to collect.

Also out, an offcut of carpet that has been festering in a cupboard for about two years gone to a thankful freecycler!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Re the questions about Data Protection, as someone who works in this field, you should say no as it is a definite security risk. You didn't agree to the moderators having this information when you signed up to the group and therefore it is against the law and unethical for them to ask or store such information. And you should ask them how safe their computers are and what Data Protection Act training they have received.
