Enough is enough - the great declutter

I've just found this thread and it's my favourite subject / hobby
I have been decluttering stuff for as long as I can remember but there seems to be no end of it...mind you I have an OH and DD now so that will explain most of the clutter :rotfl: Currently sitting in my livingroom is 5 boxes of stuff for ebay (2 are already listed, the other 3 I need to work on) and I have another very large one and a smaller one sitting in the bedroom waiting for approval from OH  We need the money desperately so I'm hoping to have a big declutter of the house again once I can clear these current boxes.
Thanks to this thread I remember now how easy it was to sell books etc on Amazon so I might do that with those instead  Either way I have 2 small bookcases worth of books to go through (One is DD's and one is ours) and another bookcase of DVD's/videos/CD's which can be gone through - I just need to convince OH that as much as I am grateful for the complete first & second series of CSI on DVD, once I've watched them through thats it... I loose interestIt's like some books, I read them once and thats it
Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
I dispatched 3 items today, made some profit...infact I need to go and up-date my ebay profit/cash bookCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Did a car boot on Sunday and made £60-00 and about £50 or so in recent weeks on E-Bay.
That makes our total decluttering profits about £1100 so far.
Last week took a load of old personal and business files etc and had a big bonfire at my parent's house (too much for the shredder to cope with).
This week I will be taking some clothes and books to the charity shop (books didn't go very well at the Car Boot). Also going to get rid of some rubbish from the garage and loft to the tip, and then make a start on my desk.
It feels good to be getting on top of things at last, and making some money in the process is the icing on the cake!!
Keep up the good work everyone.0 -

So far I have made a grand total of £84.56 profit this year on 37 items
Most of which has paid for 2 bulk lots of clothing for DD (£30ish) and car repairs

Hi everyone,
I have just got back from what was meant to be 1 weeks holiday at Haven Seashore in Great Yarmouth but extended it to 2 weeks. So I have had 2 weeks of Sun :j , Sea :T and ... .................... Sanity !!!! As i had no clutter - You cant have any clutter in a caravan. :rotfl:
This week I will be Washing, Ironing and putting away all the stuff I took on holiday and never used  - which is the story of my life :wall: which is why i will be de-cluttering for ever.
I am in holiday mode at the moment and so I am collecting tokens in The Sun to hopefully have another cheap holiday/break (although i have never done it this way so im hoping it will be money saving.)
I also know that it is my flat and where i live and the clutter i have that depresses me as i felt so much better in a caravan without all the clutter and junk surrounding me, so i want to try and stay motivated but will be starting my new aims/goals next week.
I think I know how you feel, we go to a lovely highland cottage for holiday and it has nothing but essential items, and I get depressed when I come home to this junkyard!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -

I also know that it is my flat and where i live and the clutter i have that depresses me as i felt so much better in a caravan without all the clutter and junk surrounding me, so i want to try and stay motivated but will be starting my new aims/goals next week. CHANGE OF PLAN :beer:After spending last week unpacking, doing the washing and ironin, and some quality reading on this website, I came across a thread on the holidays/travel section regarding an offer in the birmingham post about "free holiday for a 4 day breaks to haven during w/c 23/4 and 30/4."
Sorry to quote myself - but I just have to :shhh: share a secret with you all :shhh: !!
So i thought id give them a ring and ask about the "free" holiday break offer and after they tried to sell me the 4 day break at the proper price £79 and then tried to sell amd add on the extras like insurance, upgrade, ect.
But after saying that i couldnt afford that amount and wanted a free holiday, I managed to get a 4 day break for £25. However the £25 is refundable on arrival so it will only cost me my petrol = A Free Holiday !:j
Persuaded a friend to go halves on petrol and so we are off on monday - back on another break. I cant afford it really but it puts the biggest smile on my son's face and if he is happy then so am I.
So this week I have been re-packing all the stuff i un-packed last week. I cant resist a bargain !! :rotfl:
When Martin Lewis gives the advice like "Ask the big companies for discounts ect" I have always listened, but never been able to do it. I have always been too shy/embarrassed to ask, but now I have asked a big company for a free holiday and I managed to get a free holiday - so Thank You to Martin Lewis and his Fantastic advice. I eventually managed to do it !!:T
So i have to put my de-cluttering on hold for a bit longer. :cool2:~~~~~~~~~~~~:kisses3: "In Raising Your Children;" :kisses3:"Spend Half As Much Money n Twice As Much Time."0 -

1st trip to the tip today and finally made a start on the desk. No money from these activities so decluttering total still stands at approx £1100.
Thought this might interest someone who has lots of stationery etc. to get rid of.
Chatting to my neighbour who has two children at senior school I asked if they needed any of those plastic pocket thingies that go in files for school projects etc. (We have loads of files, stationery etc and hundreds of plastic pockets from when we ran our business). It seemed wrong to just chuck them all away and yet I couldn't see them selling at the car boot.
Anyway, she said that her kids could use a few but the school where she is a special needs assistant is desperate for stationery items. (Apparently the staff end up buying their own stuff half the time - shocking or what).
I have to work tomorrow but promised her I will go up in my loft on Sunday and sort out some stuff for the school.
Must confess hadn't thought of asking schools or nurseries if they need stationery or art supplies etc, or toys and books. It just goes to show if you can get the stuff to the right places it can do someone some good.
I'm not remotely bothered about not getting any money for this little lot - I just feel so guilty at throwing good stuff away and am really pleased that children will get the benefit. Just wished I'd known sooner.0 -
