T-shirts - some equally sad person might buy them?? (I#m including myself as a saddo)
Diaries - if you've written your thoughts and feelings in type diaries and not just appointments and stuff then fair enough keep them.
    Badges and keyrings - nah
Phone cards- again people collect these if they've pictures on
Wigs - always useful to have dressing up items for many occasions!!!

I'm sitting here in a big pile of boxes and stuff that hasn't reduced at all, I've even collected a few more things from freeshare!

The problem with souvenirs is you forget you have them if you have nowhere to display them, keeping them in a box in the loft is a bit of a waste of time. I like Anthea's idea of a memory box, a reasonable size that you can keep special stuff in and when it's full you have to throw something before you can put anything else in.

The other problem is people (my mum) stash important stuff like old family photos in the same box as gas bills from 1982.

Just a quick update. One bedroom is nearly finished, and it is so nice to be able to see the carpet again :rotfl: Hopefully, I will be able to start decorating soon.

I have taken some rubbish to the tip, and listed some things on Ebay, and even have some bids, so a successful week.

    How's everyone else doing ?

    I've been Money Tipped!
I found it easier to make up an excel spreadhsheet of what I am listing on Ebay then I can just sort it and put it onto Ebay accordign to the category, if that makes sense ... makes it a lot easier than having to navigate around Ebay.

    Hi Everyone...
I'm going to join in, if you don't mind.
Our house is a bit of a building site and needs lots of work...of course that means there is stuff everywhere and not much has a home at the moment.

I so need to start going through everything and decluttering, with the idea/plan that come the summer holidays I will have the money saved to start getting some work men in.
I sorted out the lounge and dining room last month, so thats pretty sorted.

I really need to do the loft, we are currently using it as a 'hobbies' room and have the xbox etc in it. Would like to get a window in there and get the ceiling plaster boarded. It still has loads of boxes of OH's stuff from when we moved 4 yrs ago.
    So thats my first step.
My daughter is having a sleep over tonight and will be up there, but will start on monday....glad I'm not the only one who needs to do these things when hubbie isn't around...
Will keep you posted on how I go..

Yes, it must be nearly Spring. I have gone off the boil as am in 7th week of new kitchen. Not finished yet!!!!! Difficulty trying to get electrician and decorator to finish. Dust everywhere - kitchen stuff all around the house. Feels as if I'm swimming in treacle. Everyone keeps telling me it'll be great when it is finished, then will be able to do the great kitchen declutter before I put stuff back in. Also do car boot sales, once or twice a year but nowadays people seem to want something for nothing or at least very little! It sometimes doesn't seem worth it, esp on a Sunday! Try to recycle loads as well, also to friends etc.

Great thread - Im a bit late but can I join in too ?

My DD and I live in a 3 bed house and 2 of the rooms are inaccessable due to junk ( my office and DD's playroom/dining room ) plus the garage just has a little space that you can walk through to get to the back due to junk piled high either side  so this weekend we have made a start. I have listed 11 items on Ebay and am going to try to put 5 items a night on too, plus I have listed 20 dvd's and cd's on Amazon today - 4 have sold already which should make a tenner after P & P. I already have about 60 books on Green Metropolis which are not selling so I may freecycle or charity shop them when their time is up. I think that I will try things first on Ebay then if they dont go there I will do a car boot sale in about a months time and if they dont go there I will drop the lot off at Help the Aged. My DD even has Christmas pressies unopened from 2 years ago in her playroom so we have had a chat and from now on I am not going so mad at Christmas. We may need to down size our home in the next year but either way this situation can not go on any longer. I normally can not bear to throw things out ( which is why we are in this mess ) so by trying to make money out of them it doesnt seem so bad. I also have far too many clothes so they are going to get listed on Ebay too, I did try to sell 3 evening dresses through a dress agency but they didnt go and came back shoved in a carrier bag  even though I put them in on hangers straight from the dry cleaners. We had nothing on this weekend which is very rare so we have had time to sort a bit out. I hope that by clearing out the junk we can be more organised. Anyway I will stop rambling now and have another read. Good luck and all the best - OOPS

    :hello:
Well I have not much done this week end - Although I have cleared all clutter from on top of kitchean cupboards :j - mostly empty boxes which i added to my collection of empty boxes that I found while sorted out during last week.

Did I say Collection...........I mean my Rubbish Pile, Honestly.

While chatting to my friend (- who is trying to help me de-clutter when she can by throwing my junk out for me -) we got talking about all my empty boxes and about taking a photo to put up and remind me of how much space they take up and help me de-clutter.

I thought it would be a good idea  but am waiting until tomorrow as i have got loads more empty boxes behind my bookcase in the cupboard but cant get to them till kids at school tomorrow so was thinking of taking a photo then.

Just wondered if it would be a good incentive or should i be :embarasse embarrassed ?

Yeah, i'm amazed that people can be so cheeky at boot sales, wanting to pay pennies for something. I once had a woman turned her nose up at this lovely dress because she spotted the label - george- she was going to buy up til then for a fiver. Never mind I snipped the label off and someone else gave me a tenner! it's not like on the telly where they advise their subject that this china teapot will fetch £100 or something - is it because I'm in Scotland and we're all mean?
(actually I wish I were mean and we wouldn't be in the D**-D**)
