  • Saw a AMD HD7850 graphics card at a great price and in stock on the WAE+ website; so like others I placed the order via website without problem. The money was taken out of my account instantly, however a day later the site posted that the item was out of stock. I'm okay Jack cos the invoice stated that I would receive it 10 days later via the free P+P as requested, so I must have been one of the lucky ones before stock ran out (or so I thought). After a week the item had not been despatched, according to the online account details, however status still stated I would receive the item by said date; despite another part of my account information stating WAE was awaiting stock. I was quite suspicious considering the amount of complaints made against this company so I called the Birmingham office. The phone rang and rang for about 23mins before someone decided to pick up. The item WAS out of stock despite showing in stock when I placed the order, the delivery date was incorrect and they didn't have any idea when stock was coming in. I cancelled my order and was told it would take up to 30 DAYS to return the money to my account as per their Terms and Conditions! The actual refund hit my account 14 days later. I ordered the same item from Ebuyer which cost about £10 more and received it a few days later via their Free delivery. I suppose I should have realised from all the other negative statements on the web there would be problems. Suffice to say that I wont be using this on-line retailer again, nor can I recommend them.

  • I just want to thank carlisle010. I called the trading standards number given above, 08454 040506, and got through to citizens advice. (they will also note the complaint to ensure that it's black listed with trading standards)

Apparently you can contact your bank (if debit card) or credit card company and ask them if they're willing to do a 'chargeback claim'. If they've had enough complaints about the company already they may well be willing to get the funds back for you (not an obligation).

My advisor also said you should let WEAplus know you've been advised to do this as it may speed up their refund to you.

    Good luck!
  • These people accepted my payment immediately, for what they clearly advertised as an "in stock" item (my purchase 27th March) and then emailed me several days later (10th April) to say....

"Unfortunately we have been updated this item is no longer available due to issues with the manufacturers."

To add insult to injury, their email had implied that I had emailed them to query stock!! which I most certainly did not, why would I, when the item I had ordered was quite clearly designated as being "In Stock" (at the time of purchase) and my order status defined as awaiting fulfilment in the interim.

On the basis of their statement (quoted above), I can only presume that the item I had ordered had never been "In Stock" when I had ordered. The manufacturers of the item (Sapphire Technology) are still producing and marketing the graphics card in question, no floods/earthquakes/share price collapse etc. have dented their production or supply of graphics cards....Quite contrary to the WAE+ assertion of.... " this item is no longer available due to issues with the manufacturers."

    Update 17th April.

This is amazing.....the card I purchased at £177 (27/3/2013), but "was no longer available" on the 10th April (but being advertised as "In Stock" at the price of £183 up until 16th April) has now suddenly become "sorry but we are out of stock" (17th April), whilst being advertised at the price of £167.

Given that it was "unavailable" on April 10th, I asked for a refund, the non supply of the ordered item being totally attributable to this companies inability to deliver upon the transaction, not me the customer.

This is where the sting kicks in, please read pasted email from them which I received (please see below)
    "Dear Customer,

    Thank you for your email,
We are sorry you are not satisfied with your order, We will be more than happy to provide you with a full refund. The full refund will be processed and back into your account soon from when cancelled 11-04-2013 by at 10:35am. As per the trems and condition which we have of 30 days time frame.

We aim to resolve this as quickly and efficiently as possible. Thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Kind Regards
    Accounts Team

So in effect I have provided this company with what I am sure will be a 30~40 day interest free loan, purely because as a customer I was tempted by the price of a supposedly "In Stock" item.

I regret that I did not research a little about this company and its business model before I purchased and got caught in the WAE+ expect MORE grief for couldn't care LESS service, experience.

I could claim for a £10 WAE+ store credit for writing a review of their disingenuous business. I don't think that I will take advantage of it somehow in the circumstances.

I can only recount my experience of them (WAE+) obviously. However, I can only hope that by taking the time to write this review, that prospective WAE+ customers will weigh up my experience (and that of other people I see on this Thread, that have had similar dealings with WAE+) against "positively glowing" reviews such as ......

"So far - so good! Ordering was easy, quick and promptly acknowledged with a £10 bcredit bonus for saying so. I trust that the follow up will be as praiseworthy"

.......that have been posted on some review sites within hours of purchases from their website (store credit incentive perhaps?), without knowing what the outcome of their transaction will be???

Hopefully, some of you will then avoid involuntarily subscribing to providing this company with a 30+ day interest free loan (when your "In Stock" order becomes unavailable, several days after they have banked your payment).

Learn from my mistake/experience and avoid any purchase or transaction with WAE+

    my story of WAE (woe):

Ordered 8 PC fans on march21, delivery was going to be 6-8 April, when I checked back later it had changed to 10-12April.
On 12th I emailed asking what was happening. On Monday 15th I got a reply stating they might receive delivery in 7-10 days. I sent off an email asking for a firm delivery date or a refund and started checking into them a bit more.
After no reply by Friday I went to Halifax and explained what was happening, to see if there was anything to try from their end or just to kinda log the company down as a bad one so that future customers wouldn't get caught.
The put me on a phone to head office and they put me through to their visa debit chargeback department.
Even though I still may get delivery or a refund or some more communication, the Visa debit department immediately organised a chargeback which I should get in a few days.
They must know something about this company already to authorise it so easily I reckon. My order was for just over £100.

I don't believe WAE+ are breaking any laws with their normal practice. Many webtailers don't hold actual stock. This is actually good for prices and the environment. I've ordered some car parts before only to be contacted to say they've been discontinued and they need to refund me. The next company I tried said they had them but same story a day later. But this was a discontinued product, and the webtailer contacted me after 24 hrs.

They say there is only a contract once THEY have accepted the order and payment is made. They then state the order is not accepted until the order status has changed from "awaiting fulfillment" to something else. CAB advises this isn't illegal.
After 30 days without delivery they have to give a refund within "a reasonable time". A vague law where we think 30 days is unreasonable, but it would likely have to go before a court for any ruling on that.

"I can only escalate the matter and our accounts will make sure your refund will be issued within a feasible time scale ."

This one made me laugh, feasible is even vaguer than reasonable! The only non-feasible timescale for a refund is one that is very short, too short to press all the right buttons on the refund machine for instance, or after the refundee is dead. All timescales in-between are feasible :)

I went here the other day. The main sign at the corner of the road says number 2 is "THE QUICK GROUP OF COMPANIES"

The doorway shows some stairs, some certificates (fire or evacuation, health and safety i guess), a toilet door.

    The two plaques outside read:

    EFiLiNG LTD
    E-filing Limited

    and

    REGISTRARS
    Company formation & compliance

nothing definitive really, apart from just sounding really really dodgy :)

I placed an order on the 11th March 2013 for a graphics card that WAEPlus stated was in stock on their website. I monitored the order status using their website which unhelpfully informed me that it was "Awaiting Fulfiment". I waited a full week before contacting them directly (prepare yourself for at least a 20 minute wait on hold before you get through to any one). Having spoken to one of the sales reps, I was informed that they were in fact awaiting stock and importing it from Europe and that it would take 3-5 business days to get to the UK. On the 24th March the order status was still "Awaiting Fulfilment". I contacted them again to be informed that the goods were being transported between their European and UK warehouses and I have the goods by the end of the week. Contacting them again on the 28th, there was still no status update and WaePlus is unable to track the goods between the European and UK warehouses. So 17 days after ordering an "in stock" item, still no delivery, still no information on exactly when it will arrive, so I cancelled the order. At this stage, having already taken the money on the 11th, they inform me that they will refund the money within 30 days (which is apparently the statutary maximum refund period). So they will have had the money for 37 days.

I can only state that you, as a consumer, should avoid WAEPlus like the plague. The prices and stock levels on their website seem to be simply to persuade you to commit to buy from them. After they have your money, there is no incentive for them to deliver the actual goods. Do NOT use.

Wish I'd checked this forum first.

Ok, so raised the issue of potential fraud with my credit card company and got them to chase WAEPlus. So finally got an email from Gary Prestell (the complaints manager at WAEPlus) stating that a full refund has been issued, and it will appear against the credit card used in 3-5 days. I'm still waiting for it to appear on my CC statement, and it is just inside the 30 day mark. I can only presume that the credit card company applied pressure. Either way, it's totally unacceptable. I've had refunds from other companies that have come through the same day, so there is no excuse.

I'm still going to complain to the trading standards agency. If enough people do likewise, hopefully we can get this fraudulent company closed down.
  • Trading Standards direct email Mike.Gutowski@birmingham.gov.uk

Stay on it, they just want you to give up, then money is theirs.

They are a vile, group of individuals hiding behind a limited company title...I have also filed grievance with Companies House.

They are opening a new warehouse in UK...according to a web newspaper....http://www.wholesalenews.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/6224/Online_wholesaler_and_retailer_WAE__opens_new_15,000sq_ft_warehouse.html

Trading standards should intervene...or be at any approval meeting as prevention is better than a cure.

It looks like the nightmare will continue for many many unaware customers.
  • Made an order on the 12th worth £300. Cancelled immediately after, since I read the reviews almost straight away.

I knew I shouldn't fall into the cycle of endless phone calls and emails nagging them to give me my money back, so I told them that I'd be starting an investigation with my bank for fraud, and meeting with my solicitor to see if any further action is necessary.

I then told them a week later that my bank will be pursuing them for the sum of what I paid, and that I will be reporting the company too. I actually opened a dispute with my bank and was going to print off emails of contact with the company and the confirmation of cancellation to provide as evidence. But as I go through my email, on the 23rd, I notice a new email from Gary Prestell about 'his sincere apologies' blah blah and that I'd get my refund in 3-5 working days.

I got my refund, in full, today morning.

    Hallelujah.

I'll still probably report them though, other people shouldn't fall victim to this utter farce of a company.

I think I've been scammed too. I ordered a microphone for my son for £60. When the order did not arrive more than 2 weeks after ordering I sent them a message. I then received a reply saying that they were awaiting stock and did I want to wait a few more working days ..blah...blah..bah.

Just need some advice. After reading about them on here I'm wondering whether to cancel the item or just go straight to my bank for a chargeback.

If I cancel it on their website will my bank say I have to wait a certain amount of days for a refund before they can do anything?

The really annoying thing about this is that my 11 year old son sold lots of his things on ebay to save up for this item and he is the one who is out of pocket at the moment.
