    What does that mean.

I enquired and got the following response.

If you haven't been charged I wouldn't count your chickens just yet.
They have 6 years to collect and with the volume of orders I feel it's unlikely to be completely overlooked, probably just delayed.

    I got that response too.
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

    6 Years to collect what?

    6 Years to collect what?
Debts can be collected for 6 years.
So if someone has not collected a payment then they have 6 years to claim it from you.
After that it become unenforceable. If you want to google them try "statue of limitation".
That doesn't mean you don't owe the money simply that they couldn't take you to court so would have no mechanism for forcing you to pay.
For land or property the limit is 12 years.

All I was saying is that you could get charged in the next couple of months when they realise the mistake.
Now £4.99 shouldn't cause a problem for most of us, but it's suprising how some people run their finances to the limit.

If they simply made a mistake you still own the money.
It's unlikely they'd take anyone to court for £4.99, but you still owe it.

I suddenly remembered about ordering these knives tonight. So I emailed to find out if they had been sent and I had missed delivery. I haven't heard a thing from RD since I placed the order.

Today I got two sets (ordered one). Luckily I have a copy of the order.
One is paid in full (although no payment taken), one is due £8.98.
I have told them that the second set is unsolicitied and asserting a right to payment is a criminal act under the Comsumer Protection Regulations 2000 and asked them to wipe the account.
    Has anyone been charged yet?
  • My (one) set arrived this morning and says on the invoice £2 paid in full?? I've not actually paid a penny. Weird company. They are very nice, though. :p

My knives arrived this morning and, sadly, are of very shoddy quality - to the extent that I went back to all the small print to check that they are marketed as genuine ones, as I thought they must be knock offs! Worth the couple of quid, I suppose, so I won't send them back, but not at all what I was expecting. Ah well, it always did sound too good to be true!
One sensible purchase at a time.

I didn't expect them to be genuine at that price, but even so they're pretty poor & badly finished. I think I'll charity shop them, it's not worth the hassle & expense of sending them back

Laguiole is much like Sabatier (& not just because they're both knives) but because the names were never patented anyone can make a knife & call it Laguiole or Sabatier, & the quality can vary enormously

    from Laguiole's website ...
'The Laguiole knife and its name have been inherited from our ancestors.
Unfortunately these early knifemakers forgot to patent the name within the legal time limit of 20 years,
after which the product and its name could no longer be protected.

Consequently, anyone at all can use the name Laguiole on any goods he wishes.

    Beware of fake copies !

These knives are all very convincing, with their Laguiole name-tag and bearing the traditional bee.
You can buy them everywhere, markets, newsagents, supermarkets and even in mail order catalogues.
These goods are not produced in France and more often than not come from Asia.'
