Readers Digest , what can I say? lol

I HAD to ring them of course!! The lady FIRST said they were OOS BUT then she said ''hang on a minute'' & asked me to hold , then came back on and said they ARE in stock and there was a note on the system or something to say they were showing as OOS on their SYSTEM but that they actually are IN stock

How confusing! lol

So here's more fingers and toes crossed that we actually DO GET them , she said up to 10 days to arrive , so its just a 'wait and see' for now! xx

( I do believe lbg's experiences with stock items regarding the knives , so hope we are not waiting around for months for these , never for them to arrive - I think the left hand needs to give the right hand a SLAP or vice versa so they can GIVE THE CUSTOMERS ACCURATE INFORMATION as I don't even TRUST what I've been told on the phone! ) :-/

yes finally got down to the nitty gritty of the oos laguiole knives..

i spoke to Readers digest 3 times today, each time with a different customer advisor, and each time they said NO STOCK and then i approached there managers who said they were now in stock and the system had not been updated as yet!

so it seems thay have got them.....

lets hope we see some knives in the post soon...

Only thing that worries me about this is whether the 'secure checkout' is really secure.

I checked on the website's FAQ's and it stated as follows:

'Is it safe to shop online?

You will notice a padlock icon on the base of your browser when you enter our 'checkout'. This indicates that all information entered in the session is secure and encrypted.'

However, the only padlock that I could see was actually on the page, next to the wording Please enter your payment details, and the padlock looked more like something that had been taken from Clip Art rather than the 'solid' looking symbol that is usually found when displayed on the base of the browser.

I would really love some of these knives, but decided to cancel payment because of this.

Could anyone please tell me if (in their opinion) I am just being over-cautious, or whether I was being sensible.

When i ordered online it was on a secure website, but before redirecting me it brought up a box which said "this webpage also have unsecure information" do you want to show this information. so i clicked no on this therefore keeping it secure.

I would give them a miss, they look very nice but once you get tied up with Readers Digest they never leave you alone.

I THINK mine arrived just before Easter - I rushed out of the house and found a small box on my doorstep & if I remember correctly it said Readers Digest on it and was the right size for the knives! :D

Will check back after I get home after my half term babysitting duties!!
