I think this is my way of thinking Scotsbob. We like the car at the end of the day, but we are pretty disgusted with the fact they've decided to use it so heavily after they've sold it!
Am I within my rights to threaten to return to the car as a bargaining chip?

I would complain and get some freebies thrown in to the deal (your very unlikely to get cash). I'm very surprised at this bunch as they appear to operate as back-street cowboys.
No reputable dealer of any size uses sold sales cars as run arounds; one, it is unprofessional and two, and more potentially damaging, is that sods law states that if you don't park that car up waiting for collection, that's the one that's going to be smashed up.

Is this really about the 1750 miles or have you decided for some other reason that you made a mistake or just don't like the car and are looking for a get out of deal free card?

100% about the 1750 miles and the principle.
As stated in earlier reply, we still like the car, but feel like weve been given a right good F-You off the franchised dealer

A previous poster gave you an idea of the reduction in price per number of miles.

I would go to the dealer and explain why you are unhappy and take the documents. Ask him what he is going to do to about it, ask this before you say what you want because they just might offer more than you were thinking of asking for.

Whatever they offer is your starting base for pushing higher. Use the Parker's Guide figures as a minimum you will accept and explain to the dealer why you want this amount.

Once you have come to an agreement then ask for car mats or boot liner or something like that as a goodwill gesture for all your inconvenience in getting it sorted.

    Fair enough.

Have you spoken to trading standards?

As someone else said, once you paid a deposit the car was yours and it should not have been used by anyone.

It sounds like the dealer won't do anything unless forced so I'd be on to trading standards to see where you stand.

In my last job I used to do 500-600 miles a day, 5 days a week.

I did a 250 mile round trip yesterday to buy stock. Took me 5hrs.
