What have I done....

Hey Laura
Exciting stuff! Now I know next to nothing about horses (big heads, eat hay, like apples...) but I also wonder what plans you had post mortgage freedom. Save for a bigger house? Live in splendid luxurythis might not be a bad opportunity to expand your assets.. also you might be able to run it as a business if you take horse lodgers and so save on tax...
Not sure about going in it with someone else though unless you treat this as a business partner affair...0 -
Morning both.
I didn't really have any plan post mortgage apart from maybe work a day less a week (wont be able to do that until at least next Sept tho). I'm happy with the house I am in and don't think I'll take on a mortgage again. I truly think I'll still be too tight to spend lots on luxury but a few holidays would be nice!! KP - I think you are right this journey does teach us to be good with money and I suppose a part of me feels like paying livery to someone else is like renting a house and chucking your money away.
I think there would be room for a horsey lodger but would just need to work out tax etc (but I'm thinking they could pay for other horsey expenses such as hay and stay for free?)
I'm going to make an offer today and see what happens....wish me luckMortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Thanks QB Wolf. I've made the offer (which is low so is unlikely to be accepted).
We would go to asking price if we had to because I do think its worth it but I would hate to pay more than needed!!
Not sure how long they are going to take to come back to me!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Better luck with the offer this time :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Are you offering alone or with a sharer?
Change of use to equestrian AFTER you have bought it is likely to increase its value.
Mobile stables are ok if they are not fixed down (though who will check?) According to planning. You can also increase its value by getting leccy and water if it doesnt have these already.
Got our field valued yesterday so will let you know!!0 -
