Well done on the dressage. Fab.
Why do you need to move yards?

    Thanks! I'm still grinning :D
Apparently there's too many horses at our yard going into winter and whilst I've been there ages with other horses it is last horse in, first horse out! Totally annoyed because its just bad management and it shouldn't happen. However I guess it's probably not a bad thing to get out of a poorly managed yard!

It is at a person's house so not really a yard and therefore no contract :( You would think being there for 4 yrs would count for something! Technically my horse isn't even the last in, the yard manager brough another one in a few months ago but of course that can't go. Its a shame it didn't happen in Jan because then I would've paid off this mortgage and could have a nice swanky yard!! My OH keeps telling me to get a nice yard and leave the mortgage to go on for another month. It does make sense coz I don't want to have to move again but on the otherhand all the nice ones (close by) are full of course!!

  • Hullo LauraJo, very glad to have found another horsey MFW! I'm horse-less at present but hoping to find a sharer soon but also seeing how competitive it is getting into a good yard!
Agree that it sounds like poor management overall, and I'd agree with your OH, OPing is a bonus, I hope you don't scarifice too much just for a few extra months of no mortgage.

Best of luck with the yard hunt and well done on the dressage, I have my first dressage lesson in aout 7 years at the weekend, I can feel the pain already!

Hi Floppy! I always think its impressive when us horsey people are MFW's as well coz they can't half take up every penny you earn if you're not careful!!
Yard hunt not going well so far! I have been offered grazing somewhere tho if I get stuck thankfully! There just doesn't seem to be much round here! I think I'll open my own stables and make a fortune! What are you looking for? Someone who has one for you to share or to buy one and share with someone? I've got a loan one at the moment and its working really well.
Good luck on the weekend - I thought I was going to come last so just set my mind to enjoying it - seemed to work and made me relax!! You must let me know how you get on!!

Hi, I was thinking the same thing myself. I'm not a horsey person but can imagine that they are REALLY expensive. It's amazing you can still overpay. :T

It generally depends how much work you for yourself. Mine is on complete DIY livery and therefore you have to do everything yourself. Lots of early mornings and late nights after work and lots and lots of poo to pick up!! Then you get something hardy and keep your fingers crossed that they will last most of the year just eating grass! Luckily mine is a loan one so the owner pays insurance and vets fees. Mine costs about £25-30 a week and I reckons it saves me money by destroying my social life and I never have time to go shopping!!
The last livery I looked at was £850 per month
Seriously I would want gold plated hay for that!!
