I don't think there's a better place to be!
(Well, there probably is but not on-line anyway!)
And there's certainly no place to be that's better for the pocket :rotfl:
Hi Ex - you are our comping guru! Thanks for all the tips and well done on the prizes :T
Teecee :hello: I've never been to a car boot. Think I'll need to raid my mum's loft next time I'm home (full of my old stuff!), borrow someone's car (I have the tiniest boot known to man) and make some serious pennies. Good luck with it!
As for the comps... register with https://www.loquax.co.uk I've started with the Quick Comps - there are so many!
We could hopefully win every comp between us in the support club!!!
P.S. Was it Ex who got us on to the comps? If so THANKS! If not, thanks to the other personMember #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

Hi everyone.
Sorry i never posted again, i did when this thread first started and thought what a fantastic idea it was.
I have quickly just read the whole thread and just want to say how well most of you seem to be doing.
My update, i have now been on a DMP for 13 months and it was the best thing i ever did.
I the past year i have managed to clear £2500 of debt just with out dmp patments, and last month i got my bank charges back of £1130 from Natwest, this was paid straight into my defaulted account which is what i wanted so make a total of £3630 paid off in a year.!!
For those of you worrying about claiming the charges back whilst on a dmp, dont natwest have been fine about it and have acctually told me it wouldnt effect my dmp agrement with them, the lady i spoke to told me it the bank pay up (as they did) it couldnt effect the agrement as it is a completly different matter. And because the money went off the debt it will make them more likely to keep agreeing to the dmp as it shows more has been paid off than agreed.
Hope that made sense?
I have finally got the hang of meal planning down to a tee, i can now shop for 4 kids and 2 adults of approx £40 a week and eat better than we did before.
Feeling so positive at the moment 2 of my debts will be clear by next month and debt on my gas meter is gone in 2 weeks.
My other top tips are
1-Pay all your bills as soon as you get the money eg i get my working tax credits on a monday, by dinnertime i have bought gas /elec tokens for week, put petrol in car, put money in seperate pots for kids footy subs+clubs. Then i draw out my weekly shopping money.
2-Shop with a list, make a meal plan for the week ahead then go and buy what i need to complete the meal plan.I always shop at lidl since going on the dmp and find their food to be very good quaility
3-When my large payments come in ie hubbys wages, child benifit i pay off my bigger debts, eg dmp, rent, council, tax ect I work my payment dates around this.
4-Join every click through site and survey site you can, i love pigsback i have a account for my self and dh and exchange the points for boots vouchers, i havent paid a penny for toiletries or birthday pressies since join piggypoints.
Sending out some possitive thoughts to all of you.

Morning everyone. Hope you're all okay. Have been so very busy with work and things over the past couple of days and have only just found time to get on here and catch up.
Welcome to yellowmonkey and amani. You're in the right place!
TeeCee - Hope your carboot goes okay. I did a carboot back in the summer and managed to make nearly £100 just by selling stuff that I thought nobody would want. And the only costs I had were the entry fee and buying my friend a beer afterwards for letting me borrow him and his car for the morning. Let us know how you get on.
Yellowmonkey - Good luck on monday. You'll be fine. I think one of the hardest parts of going on a DMP is having the courage to phone up a Debt Management company in the first place and ask for help. Make sure you let us know how your phone call goes. I'm sure they'll be very helpful.
Sea78 - Supermarket shopping is a nightmare when you're in debt isn't it? I've been so used to just whizzing round Sainsburys and throwing stuff in a trolley without really thinking, but now i'm going to have to try and stick to a tight budget. A good tip is to try and go early in the day when all the fresh food that's due to go out of date soon is being reduced and try and buy a lot of that. Then just freeze it all as soon as you get home. It's a great way to save a bit of cash.
I'm quite lucky when it comes to doing a food shop as I work for Sainsburys so get a bit of staff discount, which sometimes really makes all the difference. :money:
I've had a few developments with my debts since I last posted.
I recieved a letter from EDGE/G.E Capital telling me that my monthly payment was overdue. I'm sure they've recieved the CCCS letter that I sent them so I guess they're ignoring it. The same goes for NEXT Directory. I'm going to write to them lagain later on and once again explain the situation. I would've thought that CCCS would have contacted both these creditors so I don't get why they're still demanding money.
My girlfriend recieved a letter from Lloyds TSB offering to consolidate her £8500 loan and her £2000 overdraft into one big loan with reduced payments. They've even included the loan agreement for her to sign. Both the loan and the overdraft are included in our DMP so i'm thinking we should write back to Lloyds and say thanks but no thanks and once again explain about the CCCS DMP. Do you think that maybe Lloyds aren't too keen to accept the DMP? And is writing to them and refusing the loan the right thing to do?
Good bit of news is that Natwest have sent the 6 years worth of bank statements that I requested out to me. So this afternoon i'm going to go through them and total up all the charges that i've had over the past 6 years and then move onto the 2nd stage of reclaiming my bank charges. The other night I went back though the past few months on my online banking and found out that i've been charged nearly £1000 just in just a few months! So goodness knows how much it's been over the past 6 years! I'll let you all know just how much it comes to later on. Proud to be dealing with my debts

Nugs - I wouldn't worry too much about those letters from creditors requiring payment...
If they're just the usual 'we haven't received last month's payment' then it'll simply be a case of those automated letter machines just carrying on sending out letters to those accounts that default each month. I once took a payment break from my loan, and the people told me that I should expect to see odd letters come through whilst the changes were being made!
As ever though, if in doubt, give your DMP people a call.Chuffed to be member 11 on the DMP mutual support thread.

Cant pay debts this month should i send a token payment, dont know what to do.

Hi
I know that I would not be back until Monday but I thought I would share with you my latest news. Sitting at the computer prior to cooking a Roast dinner(It is mothers day) I went online and have been successfull in opening another account with the Halifax. Just a basic account with no overdraft this time but at least I now have somewhere to place my wages without my bank getting their greedy mitts on it and getting nasty.
The battle has commenced,The war has not been won YET!!:T :T
Regards and many thanks
Be back tommorow.
Ps sussed out the smiley thing!0 -
Hi yellowmonkey :hello:
Well done on both accounts (bank and smilies!!) :T
Just to make sure - you don't have any debt with Halifax or any linked banks? (e.g. BoS?).
Take care and enjoy your lovely roast dinner.

Sorry for not answering your question earlier, amani. There are so many of us using this thread now (which is great) that it's easy to miss something every so often.
Firstly, you must call CCCS as they are the ones who can answer your paperwork question. PayPlan took just over a week for me, but I@m not sure about CCCS.
Secondly - token payments. Do make these. They advise anywhere between £1-£5. Send a cheque if possible so you can trace whether they have banked it or not, so they can't use the excuse that they didn't receive your letter (wasn't for me as my cheque book account was in arrears) or postal order. Whichever method you choose, write a letter stating your circumstances. I'm happy to PM my letter to you for use as a template, just let me know if it would help. Remember to include your CCCS reference number if you have been given it.
Thirdly, I'm not sure about being able to start it on 1st April. PayPlan let me choose my date (day after salary goes in!) so it didn't need to be the 1st. They might not have time to turn it around before the 1st - again CCCS will advise.
Good luck
smilealot :rolleyes2
P.S. Remember to let me know if you want a copy of a token payments letter.Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

Hi.
Smilealot. No I am clear with Halifax and associated linked banks. It felt good on the application to tick the box that said do you require an overdraft and to reply no. First time I have ever done that and I can now settle down to the best roast dinner Aunt Bessie can produce. I know there will be dark days ahead but So far so good. Happy Mothers day to you all.
Regards:j0 -
Amani - wait for the paperwork - ring them in the morning and say you haven't got it as it should have been with you now. They will give you a letter to photocopy and send to all your creditors with a token payment (preferably a cheque) and then just sit and wait!
