They can't treat you like this, it is harrassment, you do not have to be spoken to like that by anyone no matter how much money you owe them.
You have taken steps to sort out your debt and are doing a Dmp. They will be treated equally along with all of your other creditors. If they phone again (which I'm sure they will!!) tell them calmly but firmly you are on a DMP with Payplan, give them your Payplan Reference number, and say that there is no more money and contact you by writing in future, Then hang up!!

Another trick to use is whilst on the phone to them ask them to wait a second...

Make some sort of 'clicking' noise, and then proceed to tell them that you're now recording the conversation and that you will be using this as evidence of harassment if they proceed in such an unpleasant manner.

I've been told it works wonders.

My second piece of advice...Stop them in full flow, and ask them to either prove who they are (which they will not be able to do unless they SEND you a letter in the post), and ask to speak to the supervisor in charge.

I'm gearing up to use these sorts of things in the near future if necessary.

  • Hi joek

Hubby tried to get them to pass him to a supervisor. The shouty bloke then said they are all in a meeting (yeah right!).Told hubby about what you suggest so will be giving them a go tomorrow with the three calls that they said will be happening.

    Welcome everclear!

I don't whether it's sad or not, but I find it fairly encouraging that you've been doing your DMP since sept, and a load of your creditors seem nicely incompetant in not getting back to you!

    evening all
joek re recording the call by law you have to tell them as soon as you answer the phone that you are recording the call. i work in a call centre and this is one of the first things we are told.

Hi hunteress - I'd assumed that as long as you mentioned to them when you actually start the recording, you should be absolutely fine.

Mainly used as a scare tactic, and not actually recording anything (I'd probably just fiddle about with a hole puncher or something...).

    Hi everyone:D

Welcome everclear sorry can't help with the Lloyds question as they are not one of my creditors. I would just keep making the payments to Payplan and forward any letters you get to them.

Joek - How are you flower?;)
