I can't believe what just happened - ds2 saw smoke in our garden when I got there it had gone but could smell it, looked over our fence (no houses behind just a track and a brook) saw a young boy messing with a carrier bag. Went out to him and asked what he was doing, he pointed to the carrier bag and I couldn't believe my eyes it was full of fireworks, not just garden ones either - huge display ones. I was horrified and took them off him he wasn't English (Polish I think) I asked where he got them and he said his mum got them for his birthday!! I asked how old he was and he said 14. He didn't even know how far 25 yards was and had been about to light one with a safety distance of that!!! Anyway I took them from him told him where I lived and said his parents would have to come and collect them from us. This young man could have killed himself - there must have been £100 worth of fireworks in the bag. Rang the police and they can't do anything suggested the firebrigade - so they'll sit in my garage for now in case mum/dad does decide to collect them. Sorry this is off thread but (to quote Victor Meldrew)I just can't believe it!!I stopped smoking 25th June 2007STILL Never complacent but confidentMy debt is GOING DOWN!!!!0

From a purely selfish point of view...if the parents don't come to collect (and I very much doubt they would), I wonder whether (nearer the time of course) you could do some sort of fireworks party?
Everyone brings food, you start up a fire and bung on a few baked spuds, and have a grand old time?Chuffed to be member 11 on the DMP mutual support thread.

got our 12 yr old niece with us tonight - oh joy. Hit puberty in a full way. Kids not in bed yet - or even fed (had a late lunch, not starving them - honest!) and I've started on the wine. Tempted to jon the swingers thread but I'm not very goo dwith innuendo - I always just sound rather creepy rather than funny

IDA - very scarey - if they don't come are you going to get the fire brigade to get them?
