  • Hey Becks, glad to see you back on here, sorry you've had a sh"tty time. Your ex certainly hasnt made things easy for you..again!

Well done on the new job, and the pay rise! Here's to bringing that DFD forward!

I'm back in a sticky situation after splitting up with the boy, but I'm keeping afloat and trying to focus on the new year and the fact that I "could" clear all my debt in a matter of months. Hopefully once my life as settled down I will be able to get back on track.

I look forward to reading more of your posts soon :)

  • Hi Becks

Just an observation, are you entitled to Housing benefit?

Thanks Pecakes, and thank you Anondebtadvisor, I was entitled to housing benefit in my old job, but now my income has increased I've had to give it up.

I still get my single occupancy for council tax so can't grumble too much.

Well just again as I start getting things on track, and working my way at the debt something comes up to bite me on the bum AGAIN.

I've been paying back an old Cahoot loan I took out in 2007, I pay back on average £100 and have so far paid off just over £5000. I received my annual statetment through the post the other day and the outstanding balance had somehow jumped up.

It says on my statement balance increase UNKNOWN!!! I called up to find out what it is, and it's only 5 years worth of interest totalling £2593 being added on :( I'm gutted, this has set me back at least another few years at least, and no one has any explanation why it has suddenly just been added.

I'm so relieved I've got 85% of my Christmas shopping down, I want to December to be a cheap month. It will be my first month getting a full wage. I'm also doing 3 days overtime in December, so this will go towards January. I mustn't grumble I'm very lucky to have a job, I wish all this debt would just do one! My DFD keeps getting further and further away.

I'm looking forward to the weekend, and am hoping it will be cheap. I have to go craft shopping with DD's as they are designing a Christmas tree for their school fete, its the one time of year I let them go mad and will spend around £10 on arts and crafts bit, but we make a good afternoon of it, and it's about time I got in the mood for Christmas - even the radio is starting to play Christmas songs, I heard Wham's Last Christmas on the way home from work, plus the Coco-Cola Christmas advert has been on, which for us is officially the start of Christmas! Here's to a cheap but happier weekend...
  • Hi Becks, how did your weekend go? I have to admit that I'm feeling less scrougey about Christmas now even though I have absolutely no money to spend on presents (break ups are so ridiculously expensive!)

Im sorry to hear about your loan, thats such a big chunk with no real explanation. Have they said they are going to give you a reason why? I'm hoping for your sake its an admin error or something. x

    Thanks for posting Pencakes.

I stuck to my budget and spent £10 on arts and crafts for the girls to decorate their Christmas tree for the school fayre. Said fayre was Saturday, managed to spend around £20 and ended up getting a Christmas present for an Aunty. And as of today my Christmas shopping is finished. :T I get paid on the 3rd and plan to clear off my credit card (again) so I can start 2013 in credit at least somewhere.

In regards to the random payment that was added onto my loan it is backdated interest from 2007, I have juggled things and increased my monthly payments for other things (namely mum's credit card) so my debt free date stays the same. But December 2016 still seems a long way off.

I have a busy few weeks coming up, 2 days extra overtime, a get-together and sleepover with a good friend at the weekend, and then next Tuesday I am taking the girls to the theatre to see White Christmas. (already paid for so MSE) I'm hoping this will help me get into the spirit of things. It's going to be my first Christmas on my own and I am a proper scrooge at the the moment, Christmas adverts on tv and songs on the radio really annoy me. I will be glad when Christmas is out of the way :(
