It actually says " Plug the USB cable or the car charger into the USB socket"
In my post #215, I have quoted all the charging info from page 5 of the manual, nowhere dose it say "" Plug the USB cable or the car charger into the USB socket"!
It actually states," Plug the in-car charger int the USB socket of the unit"
It never mentions the word "cable" at all!
Have you got a different sat nav? The one I have is Binatone Carrerea A350.
It did not come with a USB cable for computer use, I used one I have for a motorola phone.mine only came with the car charger
So did mine, maybe we should not be charging from the computer!
I have just spoken the helpline and was informed that you can charge from a computer via a USB lead ,(also from a mains adaptor), they sell them at £5. plus P&P, but that you can purchase a generic lead from elsewhere, and there should not be a problem with voltage as they will only charge at 5 volts from a computer, car charger or mains adaptor.
When I mentioned to him about the "ping pong" sound, (reply #214 above), when charging through the computer with the sat nav switched one, he said that was because the computer hadn't recognised the device and that it needed "active synch" ? (although it still charged), but if sat nav turned off and no "ping pong" sound, he said that was because the sat nav was charging
I asked about battery life when not in charge mode but using it for walking, he said it would last 1½-2 hours, as the battery did not have a long life when out of charging mode.
Mine charged last night via computer with sat nav turned off, the charging light changed from, red, charging, to green, chargedDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I have the A350 and on page 6 it says "Plug the usb cable or the car charger into the usb socket0

The image below is pages 5 & 6 from the manual, it does NOT mention a cable, as it does not supply a cable then why should they mention it?
My post #215 above supplies the text on those pages as the scan is a bit iffy; -Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I'm not sure how to scan images into here but my manual says quite clearly
Plug the USB cable or the car charger into the USB socket
Can you please just accept my word for it and end this bickering!

Derrick, my manual cover says 2nd Edition, is that the same as yours?0

Mine says nothing in relation to what edition it is, on the front as well as the sat nav name, it says; - Navigation Software c 2007 NOKIA gate5 GmbH.
Maybe yours is an updated edition, but if it mentions "Plug the USB cable or the car charger into the USB socket" I am surprised it has not got a usb cable supplied!
I am not bickering, if I am to take your word, why can't you take mine? there is no mention in my manual of a usb cable, looks like we have different manuals.
Can I suggest that you call the helpline on the number I supplied in my post #211 ( 01325 304473) and ask them why it hasn't got the usb lead it mentions in your manual.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I'm selling mine anyway. As I said, I want it for walking and I don't think the battery would be powerful enough. I have a Trafficmaster Smart Nav in th car, but it was worth it for £6! As for not having the usb cable supplied, it's a bit like buying a printer, there is never a usb cable supplied. Crazy, isn't it?0

If you are selling it, would it not be better to return to Argos, I think it is omitted from their 16 day returns service, but my first one was faulty and they offered me a replacement or voucher to the price,(also as it was a manufacturers coupon they could not refund cash). Maybe worth atry.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
My friend is buying it off me.0

I got one of these Binatone A350. Couple of months later my wife got one exactly the same make and model and it is completely different! not surprised the manuals are this different.0
