If you cancel the plan you should get your money back. I wrote and cancelled and they refunded my account.
Did/will they not request the free gift back, as surely the reason for the free gift was that you took out a policy? Surely some one is going to be out of pocket, ( a heck of a lot out of pocket if this forum is anything to go by)

The free gift was an enticement or "sweetener" to take out the policy and to keep the policy going. They gave the option to cancel and have your money refunded. That's what I did. They did not state that the free givt should be returned upon cancellation (but as you said, after this forum, I bet they will be adding a lot of sub-paras!!).
That appears only to be within the 30 day cancellation period! and as they do not send the gift until "28 days after first premium paid", then it appears they do not return the first premium as you will be outside the "30 days",(first months premium is free,so they don't take any premium until at least 30 days after policy starts), did you cancel before the first premium? if so how did you get the gift?
It would appear a mistake by AXA
Quote from the policy; -
Your right to change your mind
We hope you're happy with your policy and feel reassured that it's right for you. If, however, you change your mind about the policy, you have 30 days to cancel from the date you received this letter.
If you wish to proceed with the policy, what should you do?,
• You do not need to take any action.
If you wish to cancel, what should you do?
•Sign and send the cancellation form attached to: The Manager, New Business Customer Services Dept,
AXA Sun Life pic, P.O. Box 1810, Bristol, BS99 5SN.
•You must post it on or before the 30th day after the day when you received this notice.
•Your right to cancel will remain unaffected if, due to an unforseen event beyond your control, you are unable to let us know you wish to cancel.
Will you lose anything by cancelling within the 30 day period?
• No. AXA Sun Life pic will repay in full any money you have paid into your policy
CANCELLATION FORM
(To be returned if you wish to cancel the policy)
To: AXA Sun Life pic
I hereby give notice that I have decided not to proceed with this policy and I require the return of any money paid by me which I am entitled to have returned.
Signed................................................................................................................... Date...........................
This notice relates to policy number
The only other point about canceling relates to "Days of Grace"; -
Days of grace
After the first premium has been paid, if any subsequent premiums are not paid on the due date, we will allow ten days of grace during which time you can pay the outstanding premium and the policy will remain in force.
If the outstanding premium is not received within the days of grace, the policy will then be cancelled and you will not get anything back.
And as said in that quote, "you will not get anything back."
I cannot find anything about returning the gift, but if you have received the gift and a return of premium, then good luck to you.
Did you fill in and send back the cancellation form that I have posted above?

My 2 vouchers came today for a tv and a Sat Nav as they opened two policies for me by mistake. I went to Argos and asked if I could use the TV voucher and add some cas to get a more expensive Tv So I got a £149.99 tv with DVD player and freeview ready installed. So for £52.00 I got a £149.99 tv and a £70.00 Satnav. I cancelled the DD as they were due on Wednesday and will write to Axa to cancel on Monday. Thanks to OP. A great find
Tried this with a TV voucher today - assistant said no, so I asked them to speak to manager. Came back and said no again. I was going to ask to speak to manager myself, but a big queue had started behind me for the lone assistant.
So going to try at a different Argos or maybe go back during the week.0 -
Just buy the TV on the voucher and return it and you will get an Argos gift card. Then you can buy what you like and pay the extra. That is how the assistant who served me did it. Best of luck. I used my TV for the first time last night and it is great!0

No you can return them if they are faulty eg very poor picture quality (thats what I told them and tbh the picture quality was not the best).
Returned both of my televisions and got a digital SLR.0 -

I did go and check my Sat Nav receipt and it said 'exempt from 30 day money back garantee', but as you said, if they are 'faulty' then I guess they still have to 'refund' you.
Did they give you Argos vouchers?0
