Hi all, I opened my 2nd sealed pot earlier this week, (Been saving for spends for a special holiday for our 40th wedding anniversary) £200 banked. That's £600 altogether!
Going to start a new pot when we get back from the Dominican Republic--told you it would be a special holiday.
We keep saying it's our holiday of a lifetime for putting up with each other for a lifetime!

What a great thing to save for! I hope you have an amazing time!

A lovely £2 coin in the £2 money box pot from my change from yoga, I can't wait to spend them now!

You're welcome, Kerry. Early days, I understand, but hopefully you'll soon grow to love and be happy in your work. Have a lovely break. :D

Lovely to see you back, Mcjordi! Keep saving what you can and we'll see you November 29th!

Well my 'potting' was going well, I decided to put every £2 coin I got in change into a fairly smallish tub. I'd nearly half filled it. There was easily £150+ in there.

Got home on Saturday afternoon to find the missus had opened the tub and gone shopping with it, leaving me with nothing! She'd opened my sealed pot cos she couldn't find her bank cards (which I later found in under 2 mins of searching)!!

Well, you could say that's rotten, Gra76, however, LC 2 has made a really valid point in that your DW saved you from a lot of interest!! Naughty - but nice! :D All the best with starting over and please pop the amount of the 'used' money on your siggy. Thanks.

I bought a hot roast chicken from Mr M's thinking we could have some this evening too with some nice veggies. Well....the blessed government have decided to add 20% VAT to the price  This has added 80p to the cost! I am fuming! They have reduced the top rate of tax to big earners and are trying to recover it from us now! Grrr...I still had to buy said chicken 'cos I'd promised (and it's really tasty too :)) but I have signed the online petition to get this decision reversed and I urge you all to do it too. After all, it's healthy food :A

Hi little_sweetie, what some rats they are!! I tried to find the petition you're speaking of, but can only find the pasty one and a drink one. Please could you put a link on here for me....and ANYONE else who wishes to stop the government from taking every penny possible they can from us?!!!!

You'll be a while filling that pot, themstarrynights, but it'll be oh so worth it once you do.

I've not forgotten about your 40th Anniversary as DH & I also celebrated ours earlier in the year. When is it?? Have a wonderful time in the DR and make plenty of memories!!!! :j:j Well done on ALL that savings! Congratulations to you BOTH on your Ruby!

£4.90 in the pot tonight. I got some money back from work as I buy the tea and coffee for the staff room out of my own money and take it back out of the pot.

Feel my pot won't be as full as I wanted it to be, but I have been on a debt busting crusade and will (fingers crossed) be debt free next week.:j

I can then set about potting.

    Have a great night everyone.

Found 10p in my coat pocket so have had to make a nice round £5

Can I join you for the last few weeks and the opening please?

I have a sealed plastic piggy bank that I have been saving into - i usually put in loose change around the house, money saved by using coupons/loyalty points and any other money that'srequired me to make 'more of an effort'. I also save 'ironing money' (i hate ironing my DHs shrts so much that I pay myself to do them).

My pig is quite heavy now as I've been feeding him for a while and to be honest we'll really need the money for christmas so it's a good time to open it at the end if november.
    Trying to keep in budget.
