Yayyyyyy on your house :j :j

Tips:  Make a spreadsheet of ALL your outgoings to see exactly how much you are going to need to pay out each month, including monthly cost for car tax/MOT and/or bus passes and Buildings/Contents Insurance (these are bloomin sneaky and always catch people unawares when they have a home!)
Make a food budget and a meal planner, so much money was wasted through 'top up' shops in this house.
Absolutely positively, have an emergency fund! Things can and will go wrong in a house and it will make you feel so much more secure just to have £300 - £400 in a savings account incase the washing machine breaks down or the car needs a repair.

    I'll keep thinking :o

Agree with all of these, plus:
Try to pay bills monthly just after you get paid (by DD if possible) so you know how much money you have left to play with. Budget monthly for TV licence too, that's another one that sneaks up :(
Try Martin's budget tool and demotivator if you're spending more than you earn!
Here's wishing you many many happy years together in your new home :)

On topic - I've been potting and reading steadily, really impressed with how much some of you have banked!
