Some really really good news though this weekend, our flat should be ready tomorrow rather than later in the month as I thought - we nearly have all of the paperwork sorted and all the money is sorted, I'll just need to go to the office and collect the keys. I am so excited! It just doesn't seem real. We've waited so long to be able to move in together
I will need to budget very very carefully as things will be incredibly tight this month. And I'd better start reading the threads on other parts of the site to learn how to run a house! Any tips gratefully received
Yayyyyyy on your house :j :j
Tips:  Make a spreadsheet of ALL your outgoings to see exactly how much you are going to need to pay out each month, including monthly cost for car tax/MOT and/or bus passes and Buildings/Contents Insurance (these are bloomin sneaky and always catch people unawares when they have a home!)
Make a food budget and a meal planner, so much money was wasted through 'top up' shops in this house.
Absolutely positively, have an emergency fund! Things can and will go wrong in a house and it will make you feel so much more secure just to have £300 - £400 in a savings account incase the washing machine breaks down or the car needs a repair.
