in my local tesco a pack of 6 coloured shot glasses are now reduced to £1.29 a pack and are on 3 for 2

im sure i have seen it somewhere on here before! anyways from the OS book
450ml distilled water
essential oil / fragrance of your choice
1 pack of gelatine
food colouring optional

heat almost 1/2 the water until almost boiling, add gelatine and stir until disolved
remove from heat add remaining water 10-20 of oil or fragrance and food colouring if desired
pour mixture into baby food jars (or shot glasses!) and leave overnight to set

can put jars in fridge but be aware the smell may permeate the fridge

Water that's been boiled and then cooled.

I saw this in the book and it sounds easy and cheap (although I'd have to check about getting veggie gelatine.)

Do they evaporate eventually or do they just stop smelling pretty?

veggie gelatine works fine GR, I have used it.

They just evaporte into nothing leaving you with an empty pot.

I don think I used enough fragrance last time because you couldnt smell it unless you were right next to the pot.

Thanks so much for posting this lou, I've bought the shot glasses today( Bang goes this week's grocery challenge;) )

Can't wait to give them a try,I've never made any before so any hints or tips for good essential oils( or perhaps a mix that anyone has found works well) would be greatly received:beer:

That's sterilised water. Distilled water has gone through a process of distillation and evaporation to remove impurities. Unless you pass the steam through a distillation apparatus, the boiled water has as many impurities (except micro-organisms) as before. That's not to say it won't work perfectly well for this purpose, but it wouldn't work for putting in something like an iron if the manufacturer said you had to use distilled water. You can buy distilled water in bottles in most supermarkets - usually on the bottom shelf near the value bleach.
