Oh wow i didnt realise that they were that easy to make

Im gutted as I gave a load of ex- gel candles pots ( ie shot glasses ) to the charity shop last week
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I bought distilled water in halfords when I made them. I also found that they didn't smell unless you were really close to the pot, but I think I might have bought the drops that you revive pot-pourri with rather than essential oil (assumming they are different  ) and that's why???

although I'd have to check about getting veggie gelatine.quote]

I made delias 4 cheese terrine from her christmas cookbook last week and veggie gelatine was needed. (very nice by the way)

I was shocked at the supermarket at the price difference between that and the boiled up animal bones version.

The only one they had was by super cook called vege-gel and it was about 1.00 more than the other.

  • Briliant!! :T I've just bought 18 shot glasses from Tesco's for £2.48!!! :D First time I've ever managed to get a bargain that's been posted here.

I thought I might have to start saving my empty tea lights once they've burned away, but not now. :)

Brilliant post this - thanks - I'm going to give this a try.

Distilled water (I think) is also water from the ice which has come from the freezer being defrosted. I'm sure someone will corrrect me if I'm wrong.

I have used this for my iron and also used it in the past for topping up car batteries. It may need to be filtered due to the odd pea escaping in the freezer :o

Once upon a time I had the 'dry' paper nappy liners which were excellent for filtering this water and also chip pan oil which could then be re-used (the oil that is not the nappy liner!), but now my DDs are 25 and 22 so don't have any left!

  • For distilled water I use the water from my condensing tumble drier .I use it to make up my own ironing water ( I add a few drops of chamomile and a few of lavender and store in an old fabric condidioner bottle)

Distilled water is water that has virtually all of its impurities as well as electrolytes removed through distillation (boiling the water and re-condensing the steam into a clean container, leaving contaminants behind)

Might give these a try myself, I have some glass tea light holders from Ikea which would do the job :)
One day I might be more organised...........
