thanks but i'm still none the wiser on how much to use.0

When your gel air fresheners have nearly dried up, open, cut the contents into small enough chunks to put in an empty spray bottle (I'm using an old Febreeze one). Fill with water 3/4's. Leave for a few hours or longer.
Voila. Free air/fabric freshener.
My favourite one to make is the Glade 'Spring Rain'.

You will need:
16oz !of distilled water !(but i always forget to buy it so use ordinary water)
Essential oil/fragrance of your choice.
1 packt of !gelatin
Food coloring (optional)
Heat half of water almost to a boil. Add the gelatin and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat add other half !of !water, 10-20 drops of oil/fragrance, and food coloring if desired.
Pour the mixture into clean baby food jars and set at room temperature overnight until "set". You can place the jars in the refrigerator if you need them to set more quickly, but be aware that the smell will permeate the fridge.
;D
works out about 12p for a glade sized jar
and lasts the same !and works the same
thanks do your fresheners last with tao water? Thinking of making but finding distilled water hard to come by!0 -
I made these gel air fresheners yesterday, thanks for the recipe OP :T
they would definitely look better with food colouring added but I didn't have any so will put some pretty paper around the jars. I used lidded jars so I can shut them down if I want to.
I plan some lemon ones too - fresh for spring and nice to have a change of scent
just to clarify - I used a sachet of Dr Oetker gelatine - it says on the packet that one sachet will set one pint of water... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Did you use any kind of preservative Rosie? I made some last year but they went mouldy very quickly and I haven't made them since.
Some ideas here have been to add salt or vodka! I didn't add anything to mine.Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

no, I meant to put some salt in but I forgot  I used distilled water though, bought from a petrol station, I think a lot of people with mould problems used normal boiled water or dryer water? what sort of water did you use?... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
