When your gel air fresheners have nearly dried up, open, cut the contents into small enough chunks to put in an empty spray bottle (I'm using an old Febreeze one). Fill with water 3/4's. Leave for a few hours or longer.

Voila. Free air/fabric freshener.

My favourite one to make is the Glade 'Spring Rain'.

Hiya guys I've been collecting all the items to make the home made gel air fresheners but now can't find Martins book with the recipee in. Does anyone know how to make them please? Thanks

Now I'm interested.... where did you get the stuff from? I can't imagine where to start looking for gelatine (also is it veggie as MIL would love this but is veg) or liquid pot pourri.

thanks do your fresheners last with tao water? Thinking of making but finding distilled water hard to come by!

I made these gel air fresheners yesterday, thanks for the recipe OP :T

they would definitely look better with food colouring added but I didn't have any so will put some pretty paper around the jars. I used lidded jars so I can shut them down if I want to.

I plan some lemon ones too - fresh for spring and nice to have a change of scent

just to clarify - I used a sachet of Dr Oetker gelatine - it says on the packet that one sachet will set one pint of water

Did you use any kind of preservative Rosie? I made some last year but they went mouldy very quickly and I haven't made them since.

Some ideas here have been to add salt or vodka! I didn't add anything to mine.

no, I meant to put some salt in but I forgot :doh: I used distilled water though, bought from a petrol station, I think a lot of people with mould problems used normal boiled water or dryer water? what sort of water did you use?
