Do you put oil in with it?
My burners don't have very big hollows for the oil and water. Why can't they make a dip just the right size to hold enough liquid to last the length of one tealight burning? I always have to refill before the tealight burns out. ::)
Hope that makes sense :-/[/quote]
Hi there,
No i don't put oil in it at all, the burners i have have very deep hollows also so i just put more wax in them.
If you actually wipe a little of the oil on the burner before melting the wax, when it is cold it will just pop out so you can swap and change them as many times as you like, and you'll be amazed at the smell when you burn them like that, it's much much stronger then just burning them on there own. ;D0 -
I want to make some of these as our house has a major case of "houseotis" and is all stale :-[
I've got a whole selection of glasses that a previous tenant left here ranging from small brandy like glasses to crystal wine glasses. I've got gelatine and some lavender oil from post birth of my daughter (mother-in-law who is a nurse suggested I should bathe in it to help me relax but only since I wasn't breast-feeding and I'm nowhere near the bottom of the bottle yet) but the distilled water is a problem.
Would just using boiled water re-heated do instead of distilled? I personally don't mind if they go slightly mouldy and loose they're scent but I was thinking of making some for Christmas gifts.
Also I have a 25g pack of fine leaf gelatine that says "to set approximately 2 pints of liquid" (don't you just love it when they mix imperial and metric units ::) ) so how much lavender oil would I need?
Please help as I want to make these up as soon as possible - I'm not willing to spend another £3 on a candle that hardly smells or lasts >:(Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
I looked on here last night and saw a recipe for gel air fresheners made with geletine and distilled water and it was suggested to put them in cheap shot glasses as a present, I got up this morning all in the mood and now I can't fine the receipe HELPLoretta0

Thank you for replying so quickly, I looked everywhere I don't know how I didn't find it. I looked at so many recipes for HM stuff last night and I thought I had saved them all and I was going to spend today making soap, bath bombs, body scrubs etc and these,
I hate those artificial smelling things they make me choke!!!
Thanks again
I just love this site and the people who contribute and seem to know everything - WONDERFULLoretta0 -
Going to try these out. Is there anything I can add to them to make them anti tobacco?
Thanks Carrie0 -
Minced smokers seems to work
If you have a look at the cleaning section of the MEGA Index sticky there are some other threads on air freshening that might give you inspiration.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Usually only one minced smoker is enough to set an example.
