A quick question. Can the firmware updates be added in any order (ie. go straight to V3), or do you have to go V1, V2, V3?
No reliance should be placed on the above.

I have ordered one last night - Order status checking still says "awaiting authorisation." Surely these things aren't done manually - they are delivering to the cardholder's address after all.
I'm not in a great hurry but with when I have used my card with others it's been pretty instantaneous and no delay. Anyway I look forward to receiving it soon. i hardly watch DVD film but for the forseeable future I just want a cheap reasonably well reviewed player that will play virtually everything and this seems to be fit the bill. Thanks for the opening post.

Well that was a surprise - I just checked on the order update and it said awaiting processing or similar but then just had a knock on the door and it was the Citylink guy with it - almost missed him. He put a card through the door but I got him just before he was about to drive away.

I have just played a free "Office" DVD, an mpeg CD and browsed a JPEg slideshow and for my first standalone DVD player for the price etc I am very pleased so far. My only very minor gripe is that as mentioned the green LCD display is a little cheap and basic looking but that is only minor. The tray is flexible but Ok -
It is easy to use - Willl give it a good run in later.

This player seems to have been superceded by the MX-105, but I cant find much info about it on the net in terms of firmware updates. Not sure which to buy.

How's the 6700 with cheap media? I have a Medion divx player that is quite fussy and considering this Yamada one.

I have had my 6700 for 2 weeks now works far better than my old DivX player. Not sure on MX-105, I heard it contains a different chipset, whether that is better than the one in 6700, who knows. But the 6700 is slightly cheaper than MX-105

The specs on MX-105 are here
