    I wonder if it's because they were flowers that I got them? Perhaps they have a different supplier who gets automatically contacted when someone makes a flower order?

    LOL, well the lady at Thorntons that I spoke to seemed to think they wouldn't be able to charge more than you had authorised... So I think it's a case of honour it or cancel it - not just charge you more.
