did you receive a dispatch email perhaps try ringing bank/credit card company or number on confirmation
  • I ordered 2 hampers yesterday at about 1.40pm and picked "named day delivery" to be delivered on Friday. I paid using my Paypal Access card as that way they cannot charge any more than is in my Paypal account at the time.

This morning at 8am, Thorntons charged £13.95 to my card and it has been deducted from my Paypal balance.

Strange that they are charging it already when it is not due for delivery until Friday, but it is also strange that others who have deliveries expected in earlier slots haven't yet been charged. I have had the initial confirmation e-mail and text but no despatch messages and I have had no phonecall to cancel either. Interesting to see what happens!

I had a dispatch email showing the higher price.

I called Amex, who couldn't tell me yet how much Thorntons had charged me.

Called Thorntons and explained. The lady looked at the order and said that it was strange - I had been charged £19.95 (what I expected) but that the order showed that an extra £5.something was outstanding.

So, importantly, I've only been charged the glitch amount. I said the offer popped up at "2 for £8 fudge and eggs" and being eggs I thought it was correct. (Good luck those trying it with the hampers :p)

I asked if it was ok to eat the eggs or should I return them because they'd bill me for the extra. She seemed to think they wouldn't.
  • This is why I feel embarrassed about ringing! I didn't order eggs, I ordered flowers :rotfl:
