EXPIRED thorntons continental eggs...glitch

I received a cancellation email asking me to ring with my details and they will refund and send me a freee box of chocolates. I have been away and didn't ring them before I went, thinking that they would not have taken the money and I was just ringing for my free chocs really so no rush. I received my credit card bill on Saturday and Thorntons have charged me. I thought if they charged you they had to honour the order. I also cannot understand how they can charge for an order they cancelled. Needless to say I will be ringing them on Tuesday and will not be happy.
I expected a cancellation email and try the glitches knowing most times they will not work out, but have never known a company take money out and not refund themselves immediately when they cancel
how it was explained to me on the phone was they needed my details to refund me as for security reasons they dont keep your bank details
I guessing they just take your details at the time of order and automatically take the payment immediately (although it doesnt show up in your bank account for a few days) and then 'digitally' delete your bank details off their system.
once an order is taken they then get passed onto the relivant department to get pick, pack and send out some customers were lucky their orders were passed straight to the picking and packing dept. before they picked up on the glitch then the rest got stopped and cancelled. its just a shame that they didnt get passed on in order or else i may have got mine as i was near the front of the queue2012 wins- FB Clean Campaign eyebrow kit, Heinz ketchup Indian Spices, 4x rocky road squares, magners eye-pads, £500 from pepsi, 3x green&black cooking choc bars

My feeling too, I ordered early on - normally don't mind if I miss out but I'm a bit annoyed on this one as people who ordered after I did got theirs and yet I didn't, and I keep checking on here and annoying myself even more, and I see people are moaning about not receiving them early enough, I appreciate that people want eggs before easter but they should be thankful to get them at that price as a lot of us didn't!
You are obviously referring to me here.
And yes I only ordered what I needed and that was Easter Eggs for the children and grandchildren. What is the point of having them after Easter even if they are cheap!! And no, I would not have been thankful to have got them at that price anyway after Easter, as I would have had to go shopping on the saturday to get eggs for my grandchildren who were coming to visit Easter Sunday.0 -
