Using EDF's own calculator - Npower will save me £53 PA.

As an existing EDF customer I am considering changing to blue but might just jump ship to npower.

I wonder what the response will be if I ring EDF and discuss this with them - is there any haggling or additional discounts to be had through haggling to keep customers?
(Or do they just say - goodbye and thanks for all the fish?)

EDF is closed today so this wont be discussed with them until an evening this week.

Also - is Npowers CS any better than EDF? I have not had many issues apart from them trying to put the dd up above what it should be.

And what about the £46 I currently owe them - do I have to pay this off before changing to blue?

I came off the EDF Saver V8 which finished on 31st March, I asked for a loyalty bonus of some sort or other to stay with them but they said no then but you might have more luck? I moved onto there blue tariff as it was a lot easier than the hassle of switching also I think at that time I was going to save around £38 with N Power so decided to stay where I was. I do ok with EDF as long as you monitor your account on a regular basis, whenever I've phoned them up they have always corrected any wrongs straight away so no problems really I usually put my meter readings on line every two / three months so have to ring to correct the Standing Orders a couple of days after normally but hey It's only a Free phone call.

    Grrr.

Just off the phone with them. Well 20 minutes ago - after waiting 26 minutes.

Although the lady I spoke to was extremely nice and although not in tomorrow has made a note in her diary to do the calcs and give me a quote for blue.

Over the past couple of years, although not too dilligent at providing meter readings myself we must have had a meter reader around about 12 times at least. However she tells me that they do not have 12 months worth of actual readings - have to estimate it.

O got a load of speil about meter readers only sending 1 reading in and coincidentally it was the electric that was never sent in.

So if they cannot now tell me if I will save money being on Blue then....

How the heck can they have had an annual review and given me figures that tell me how much they think I will use next year AND put my DD up £20pm if they cannot tell how much I have used?

Methinks some smelly cows just walked past an open window.

P.S. I was told that if they cannot save me the £52 pa then they will not put me on that tarriff, if Npower is cheaper then I will be told to go with npower.

Perhaps they realised how bad it was when they thought up the animated character, a turd:

FWIW I changed to Blue as it is cheaper than the standard tariff and we will wait and see if npower come out with a better one that makes the hassle of switching worth it.

Although desoite EDF's quote saying that their recommended DD would be £83 they set it at £97 !!
Had to ring up and wait yet another 20+ mins to tell them to set it at exactly what they have quoted at. Grr.

Grrrr2 now I cannot even log into myedf due to how assanine their login security is if you have forgotten the password, they cannot reset your passowrd - they have to delete the web account and you re register.

Judging from the <noises coming for Centrica>, I think the EDF Blue+ tariff at its current rates is likely to be pulled before too much longer.

If you're interested, you might need to get in quickly.
