ok
its now gone up 13% to £8.67 (price I pay).
take original plan (inc vat)
remove discount £12.50 inc vat
left with price I pay
= original + 13%.
Is this fair???
not sure where you got those figures from but the max they can increase your price plan is 3.7% only, if they raise it by anymore than that then you will be entitled to cancel your contract.0 -
sorry, just to be clear, so there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to get out of their contract with t-mobile due to this rise?0

Perhaps it is high time people just cancelled and dumped their handsets in the trash and went mobile free.
If everyone did this you could smugly watch all the mobile companies gradually fall to pieces.
Unfortunately, this will never happen all the while idiots still want the latest shiny toy.
You only need food, water and air to survive, I bet you have other things in life, might as well dump them in the trash as well.0 -

Hi,
My letter stated an increase of 3.7%, and plan of £21.17 (EXTRA £0.75 per month).
My curent plan is £7.50 after loyalty discount.
Ive just called them now, and they have told me it will increase to £8.93, an increase of £1.43 - which to me is mad!
- how can the increase be higher than the £0.75 from pre-discount plan?
- be careful with this as i am very confused!
I had the same issue- called them today to argue that it was unfair to take the 3.7% on the price before discount. Thankfully the lady I spoke too understood common sense and offered to switch me to a payment plan at the reate i'm paying now but with more texts and more minutes. Think she knew that a technical 13% increase on my montly payment would mean I would have grounds to cancel.
Maybe try calling them and see what you can haggle out of them?Happy, Happy, Happy!0 -

i think thats a good angle to get them technically they can increase only 3.7% so they have to do it on the rate your paying now i.e discounted rate plus 3.7% if they dont they will have to cancel your contract cause if they took it before discount it would be more than 3.7%....................just looked on t-mobile web site t-mobile.co.uk/newprices and they got a calculator and looks they dont take the discount included which for me it works out more than 3.7% from what im paying now surely they cant do that.0 -

Just had a similarly confused look at the letter.
Joined T-Mobile in December. Email confirming my order said "Order total due monthly: £15.32" including VAT.
There had been no mention of any special "Loyalty" discount (why would there be a loyalty discount? I was new to T-Mobile!)
So imagine my surprise that they want to charge the 3.7% increase on a monthly charge before discount of £20.42 instead of on the £15.32 monthly charge I signed up to. It's only a difference of 19p a month , but one for others to watch out for.
Honestly, dodger dealers!
What I can't understand, if they were going to pull a fast one like this, is why they didn't make it worth their while and say that the charge of £15.32 was after a £1000 discount - so the bill would increase by £370. Or am I just being silly?0 -

Thanks Squiff33,
Unfortunately the lady I spoke to was not very helpful, and I will call and go for a different department.
I have tried the price calculator, but again this only shows the price before loyalty discount. To me, this is a 13% increase, not 3.7%, on the "amount I pay each month" as below from the FAQs on the T-mobile site.
My plan is still very low for the allowance, so in two minds what to do TBH.
Any the wording is very ambiguous in my view.

"What are the changes and who will be impacted?
From 9 May 2012 we’re changing some of our prices. This means that if you joined or renewed on one of our pay monthly price plans before 1 February 2012, your monthly charge will increase by 3.7%. We know that price rises are never great news, but we’re still committed to giving you the best service and network possible.
The price rise will only affect the amount you pay each month for your plan. All other charges, such as call costs, texts and Boosters that aren’t included in your allowance will stay the same."0
