hi guys today i got a txt off t-mobile saying they were adding 3.7% to my bill .this would add an extra £10 per month can they do this .

How much is your bill? If it were £100 per month then it would go up by £3.70 so are you really spending about £280 per month?

I think you might have added 37% there rather than 3.7% ?

And there are already a number of threads about this.

So your bill is £10/3.7%=£270? I see why you cannot afford a new keyboard with working 'Shift' and '?' keys....
  • Hello,

After a long call to customer service without any success, I call t-mobile again but instead I went straight to cancellation and the lady was very helpful.

Not even after 5mins of me explaining that I was unhappy with the price hike, she said she would need to look into my account and call me back, which she did after 10 mins and offered me a £5 discount on my line rental.

FYI - I am on a 24 months contract, which should end in March 2013. :)

I am happy with this solution....

    thanks

I have just renewed a 24mth contract (annoyingly) but as it was done in March, I am hoping from your info I have missed the problem. Still unsure about this but have not yet received a letter

  • we received our letter of an increase related to inflation. However, we have a discount on the standard tariff that was negotiated when we renewed. We were told that the increase would be based on the standard tariff and not our discounted tariff. This means we will pay a greater percentage increase. I pointed this out when I complained, but was told that this was company policy. Should I write to the independent adjudicator?

Hmmm.... my 24 month contract with T-Mob "ended" on 28th Feb this year... so currently I'm just on a rolling contract until I sort out a new deal.

I'm waiting to see what new phones come out (ideally the HTC One X or Samsung Glaxay S3 (whenever that is announced)).

I have been getting calls from T-Mob and other companies on their behalf who say they can get me a good deal blah, blah..... I guess if I renew with them I would be affected by this price hike??

I'm currently on their "Pay monthly 25ST (24 months)" tariff but apparently I don't use my allowance of calls and txts.

interesting post here from which http://conversation.which.co.uk/technology/tmobile-price-rise-monthly-contracts-cancel-everything-everywhere/comment-page-1/#respond
which ive sent to t mobile along with a complaint to the directors office about their underhanded price increases on my 5 contracts.. response was a pasted piece from their terms and conditions, no apology no personal answer nothing. Ive now reported them to Ofcom and will be looking into changing each contract as it comes up for renewal or getting out of the ones Ive got if I can.. After 15 years with them, this is the last straw, rubbish signal and horrendous call centre rude staff has made up my mind. Vote with your feet and go elsewhere!

Just a thought, however being a T-Mobile customer I will be using this argument when I contact them:

T-mobile state that the increase is due to increased cost of carrying out their business due to inflation - so it is an increase to their overheads only, and not to the total cost charged to the customer (which also includes profit).

Therefore the increase that reaches the customer should be overhead x rate of inflation, not total cost x rate of inflation, the alternatives are either that T-mobile are operating purely at-cost, or that they are intending to profit from the increase.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
