    OP.

Just goes to show that you have hit a raw nerve here with this point, with the amount of posts made by people who think it is ok to rob a charity of funds, they seem to be keeping clear.

A question to the MSE moderators though. Why did it take you most of the day to remove the thread on the food section of this site, when you would have been interviewed yesterday for the article in the This is money website? Perhaps if you were more stringent in checking for wrongdoings like this, in a more active way, then you wouldn't have been named and shamed in a Mail online article. Wonder what Martin thinks?

Mind you , At least it didn't take 5 days like it did when I was having Homophobic abuse thrown at me 2 months ago.

I have to say I'm someone who used the vouchers. I was pointed in the direction of the Beforeishop website and I printed it off. I read the terms and conditions on the voucher and there was nothing about it being for charity so didn't think there was a problem.

Of course if I, and I expect the majority of people on this site who used the vouchers, had known about the charity element, then I'd not have used them.

To say most people who printed the vouchers set about to rip off a charity is being dramatic, imo.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

What next, Robbing a collection box next Rememberance day?, Sorry but that is what it comes down to , in my opinion.

Yes, but I don't think that the charity concerned has been robbed of any funds. It was a coupon. Presumably the intention was that it was to be used only by those participating in the 'cake bake' with the notion that, by reducing their costs, the profits generated and donated to the society would be all that much greater. But using the coupon for any other purpose would not effect that.

It might well be morally dubious to have used the coupon for any other purpose, but there's no need to go postal about it.

Well yes, if you look at the pdfs there is a reference to a 'Cake Break' but no explanation of what that is. If you just came across a link to that voucher online somewhere, you might well have assumed that the references to 'your Cake Break' was just a term conjured up the Wrights marketing team.

Perhaps all of you so called Money savers, should donate say £10 to the MS society, in order to balance out the loss in which they will be making, as their loyal charity contributors cannot get the flour now to make the goods they wanted to, because of your greed?
  • I've taken part in the MS Cake Break for 5 years now and have received my pack for this year. I probably wouldn't have used the coupon as I bake cakes rather than bread so haven't been affected by this.

It's a real shame though that some people have abused the system and although the online version of the coupon didn't make it clear that it was linked to a charity event, I doubt that would've stopped most people from abusing it.

This is why couponing is becomming so much rarer than it used to be because companies can't afford to take a hit like this and just stop giving out offers.

I personally like how everyone who has used the vouchers is trying to blame anyone but themselves. Irrespective of blame and fault, now you now it was intended for a charity its no longer morally questionable but a matter of morally wrong.

Chrissyg, the fact your revelling in this suggest that your morals are bent to say the least.

Ive got little doubt your a person who when someone drops 20p you charge over picking it up screaming finders keepers.

Its not a case of high + mighty its right and wrong and now people know the intention of the coupon was for a charity there still not willing to do anything about it palming it off as the charities fault or the companies fault.

    Disgusting behaviour, simple as.

Ive seen some fantastic work on this website and forum helping thousands of people but instances like this tarnish the whole group, certainly raises questions of being assosciated.

This site is about money saving and fairness for the consumer, the tide has gone too far at the expense of businesses and charities.
