whilst lifetime support can only be provided by a company that cna cointinue to trade.
Certainly if I were looking to get away with that lifetime obligation "allowing" the original company to become insolvent would be a way out, raising a phoenix with no cross obligations.
P.S. I am not a cowboy - honest."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I have sent this letter to RA:
Dear Sir/Madam
Re: Announcement of Road Angel Classic Product SubscriptionDiscontinuation
I am writing to you to express my dissatisfaction about theabove issue. I purchased my Road Angel on the understanding that a freelifetime subscription meant exactly that…it would not terminate until the RoadAngel ceased to work. In my opinion, the excuses you mention in your letter areyour problem, not mine.
The offer you make as recompense is laughable…similar offersare always available, and I am far from satisfied with it. At the very least,it should include a free lifetime subscription to replace the other, and stillat a good discounted price. Alternatively, a cash refund on the subscriptionwould be acceptable. In actual fact, even this is hardly good enough as my RoadAngel is still working well, and in my opinion should not need to be replacedat all in the near future. I feel it is your job to maintain the software etc.needed to support it for much longer than a mere 10 years.
If I do not have a much more satisfactory offer, I shall begetting in touch with the Trading Standards office to complain.
Yours faithfully

a court is likely to rule that "Lifetime" in this instance would refer either to :
the operational lifespan of the individual road angel unit,
the lifespan of the company providing the service,
or the lifespan of the purchaser
whichever is the shorter
clearly there is still a service to be provided
I think there is a good case to get at least some of your lifetime subscription backsquaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0 -

If the company is to all intents and purposes insolvent - from whom?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I may have missed something but where is the evidence that this company is almost insolvent ?0 -

Post 51.
I don't know that they are have merely suggested it is worth investigating.
Company well may have a profitable new company but you may find the contract in question is with an older one with a separate legal entity. it may also be just solvent with little or no assets with any mass claim tipping the balance."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

It is worth mentioning that if Road Angel discontinue updates they are making the unit unfit for purpose and a refund might be in order.0

please run an Experian credit check on them, Banjo. I have.
The possibility might exist that they are faced with a real need to raise money - getting those with lifetime subscriptions to spend again might be one way. But if cash is a problem for any company then trading might become difficult. And so the value of any subscription is only as good as the value of the company who granted it in the first place.0 -

Thanks for thatbut I do not feel like spending more money on this company , I have seen the reports about the Gem on Halfords customer feedback site and am not very pleased with what they have said !
The point that has been made about if they stop updates then they will be making the Angel classic not fit for use is very true .0
