Does Martin Lewis monitor these threads surely he would be able to let us know where we stand legally and what we should do to resolve this matter !

What about us all contacting watchdog ?
  • I got my letter also. Not happy! Will seek legal advice tomorrow. I assumed like everyone else it was my lifetime. My road angel is still working in its lifetime and so am I. Their offer is a joke, spend more money with us to buy a new unit that we don't need and give us even more money in the way of subscriptions that we should not be paying! I would find it acceptable to buy a discounted new unit with my lifetime subscription.
The publicity from this will stop people buying road angels. Whoever thought this scam up should be sacked.

I've had a brief conversation with my solicitor who considers that a class action could be th best way to deal with this if there were sufficient people joining within such a scheme. I'll post further information when available.

There is no such thing as a class action in the UK.

    Semantics perhaps ashleypride?

Tell me. Are / were you a lifetime subscriber to Road Angel or "Blackspot" as they were then known? If yes, are you affected by this?

  • Yes this affect me, my wife and father as well.

I purchased three off these along with all the accessories. Subscriptionsrendering the devices useless come into effect 11th May 2012. I have sent threeletters of to the Operations Manager disagreeing to this.

I would need to buy three units at £99.99 then £60 on accessories for eachone and the have to pay £65.99 per unit per year. All for the same product andservice I have already paid for.

    Very cheesed off.

Thanks Mr Boost. My question was intended for Ashleypride who seems to think it appropropriate to post for the sake of posting and without being in any way constructive or even have any relevance to the real issue. If I have misunderstood what Ashleypride is about, then no doubt he will confirm that he has a lifetime subscription with Road Angel.

I do note that you have bought three units each presumably with lifetime support. If there are enough of us wanting to pursue Road Angel for breach of contract, then if we were able to do so together through one solicitor, it might be a cost eefective way of challenging Road Angel.

If not, then perhaps the litiogation could prove too costly for individuals to pursue.

I don't know you tell me? I am simply telling you 'class action' doesn't exist, so the solicitor could be leading you down an expensive garden path. If you don't want to read my post or think it's helpful then far enough, you continue with your class action. Personally, I'd go to small claims court for breach of contract rather than looking into a Group Litigation Orders.
