I've worked at JLR for a year. You need proper safety shoes/boots. Mine look like trainers but have a steel toe cap inside.

The eyelets where you thread the laces through CANNOT be metal as can damage the cars, plastic is fine.
  • He first applied around 9 months ago I think. Not sure when interviews and assessments were, I'll try and find out later.

Thanks gazberg, I'll have a look online

    Totally this.

I've been there for 4 years, at both CB and Solihull, (and 17 year previously at Solihull and Longbridge for Rover).

Every area I have worked in has safety boots/shoes as mandatory PPE as detailed in the WES (work element sheets).

Many are like trainers and much lighter, using either hard plastic or aluminium for the toe caps. Miles away from the old type heavy, steel toe cap boots of yesteryear.
  • Hi,

My husband got a phone call not long ago. He's been given a start date at the Solihull branch mid Feb. So pleased, he's going to love handing in his notice tomorrow!
