  • Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone know something about the shift allowances on 3 shifts? How much is it? For morning afternoon and for nights? Also.... working for manpower.... is it really a temporary on going position? Is there any chance to get a contract with jlr? I'm just about to giving up my full time job for jlr. Does it worth it? My current rate is 8.86/h on 2 shifts. So I can pick up 1400-1500 each month. Please someone answer my question. I'm hesitating, very very much. Thank you guys

You get paid a rate equivalent to time + 22% for 3 shifts.

Your pay rate will start off at 70% and climb every year,

    Start at 70%
    after year 1, 80%
    after year 2, 90%
    after year 3, 92.5
    after year 4, 95%
Final onto 100% and a JLR contract.

It's five years with Manpower (although there may be opportunities to get onto JLR contract early).

    I think the 70% on 3 shifts(22% premium) comes out about £14 - £14.20 ish

I'm on 92.5%, my hourly rate (for straight days) is £15.34 so it soon climbs. Only 18 months and I'll get to 100% and it seems like I've been there no time at all.

HTH, not an easy decision to give up a full time job.

(if my figures or anything else is wrong, I am happy to be corrected by anyone who knows different ;))

can you request for certain shifts or straight days? or is it just pot luck what you're given? will al the new starters be put on rotating shifts?

is there much chance of getting overtime?

    cheers
  • Three shift wage one 70% is £14.25 at the moment. Most new people will get put on three shift I think as most of the site is going three shift from April onwards.

In terms of getting contract I think you'll get one eventually. Solihull plant is supposed to building about 300,000 cars from next year onwards so they'll need the heads to do it. And they're only supposed to have 10% manpower staff we got told when we started last year it's about 30%. Out of all their plants Solihull has the most going for it so you've got the best chance there

In terms of overtime in fa2 it's starting to pick up again. The new f pace car there doing is expected to do well so I think you'll find there will be a fair bit of overtime this year over weekends and they can make you work 5 hours extra over the week if they need as well

Shifts, you're generally expected to do whatever is required. Although there may be some flexibility, don't count on it.

Overtime depends on where you end up.

As far as I know the new starters are to make up a third shift to take it all up to 3 shifts.
