I spoke to Manpower Solihull today and it's done on a scoring system, the higher your score the sooner they will call you. It's just a waiting game I guess.

I wonder if it's the same in regards to the initial online assessment as well. My oh passed the online assessment and has been waiting about 3 weeks now for a call to book the manual (it feels like a lot longer lol), maybe he got a lower score than someone who gets a call a week or two after completing it. Or maybe it's just luck of the draw and depends on how many applicants they have to sift through at any one time. I'm going to pass that number that I was given by another poster onto my oh and see if he wants to give them a call. Can't do any harm can it?
Oh right guys thanks for the info makes sense now, oh well think I'm !!!!!!d then as I didn't do well in the face to face interview :(

Unless you've had an email telling you that they won't be taking the application further I wouldn't give up hope just yet. The first time my OH applied he got an email the day after his interview telling him he had been unsuccessful, it seems they don't waste much time when it comes to telling people they've not got the job but they do like to keep those who have passed all stages waiting for a start date.

Hi all I had my interview on 5th feb. Called today to be cheeky and give a bit of a push and turns out they have the wrong number for me which is strange as they called me about both my manual and 1-1 interview before. I'm gutted as she said they may have been trying to call me to get me a start date :( awaiting a call today to find out what's gone wrong......gutted

What number did you call to see if you had the job? And did they say anything else?
  • Afternoon does anyone know if the hourly pay rate is different on every shift you do if you do 3 shifts please?
  • Can someone explain me what you must do exactly on the Manual Assesment! Thanks
  • Attended the interview yesterday and received this e-mail today. Have I passed the interview ? How it's worded seems a bit non-committal, will I be offered a position ? Thanks in advance.

The day after my OH had his interview last year, he had an email telling them that they weren't taking his application further. So in that respect it's a positive sign, you can't have done that badly. Must be very frustrating though, the application process for a job at JLR seems to involve a lot of waiting around unless you're lucky. Good luck.

    I've been Money Tipped!
May I just ask, why do they have a seemingly huge turnover of staff there?

I'm no expert by any means (I'm sure someone who actually works there will be able to give more of an insight) but maybe it's because the work involved seems to be quite relentless, physical and monotonous at times - from what I've read anyway. And it's shift work, which doesn't suit everyone. Some people realize the job isn't what they'd hoped and so end up leaving. I'm guessing that's why they offer such a good wage, to keep staff motivated and try and keep staff turnover to a minimum - more employers should do the same.
  • Hi,

Although I had my interview at Castle Vale end of Jan and have yet to hear anything re a start date, I got a call asking me to go in for a manual assessment at Wolverhampton for the EMC plant in 3 weeks time which funnily enough I applied weeks before SH & CB.

I would appreciate any advice on what to expect at this assessment as the email states times as being longer on site.

    Thanks
