Just been told today I start August 11th in Jag at Halewood in the body shop, was told over the phone its a two shift pattern early and a late shifts and the pay is £12.59 p/h. Does anybody have any info about the body shop? I was also told there is a possibility that I may get laid off for a few weeks in September, anybody have any idea why this would happen? Cheers everyone

Hi Declan if thats your name if you are lucky enough to earn JLR contract do you go on to same wages as JLR employees if so what are they on for 3 shifts per annum

You will never go onto 100% pay I'm afraid.

You start on 70% which is £10.76 basic. After one year when you get your STC you go onto 80% pay. Then after the end of your second year you earn your full time contract and that's 90% pay. I know it goes up so many % each year after however as it stands you will only ever earn 95% of what the 'old boys' earn.

Just to put it into perspective. On a 3 shift pattern after tax it's £381 a week on 70% and about £411 after pension contributions on 80%. My family who's on 100% earns about £521 basic a week! It's a big difference I'm afraid matey !

That's as things stand now. Things may change with the new pay deal. ;)

Hi mate....my face to face was 7th May so I've had quite a wait...
Best of luck to you and hope you're not waiting too long.

Mind you I had to give notice at my current job so that means I missed the July 1st start a lot had on here. Maybe that made my wait longer

passed my manual assessment for the wolverhampton engine plant about a month ago now, manpower rang me 3 days later to book me in for interview but i couldnt attend the 2 days they had slots for due to being away on holiday, are they likely to ring me back when a next slot becomes available or do you think ive missed my chance?
