    Hi ttfan

I done my manual assessment at halewood about 3 weeks ago and was pretty straight forward, I've got no experience with car parts but just watch the demo and keep calm its not difficult if you concentrate!

Consisted of putting together a part that I can't remember what it was actually called but as I said was very simple then done the magnet test which if you have an ok memory is again quite simple, you basically have to place magnets in the shell of a car in a certain sequence on one side of the car then get out and retrieve them from other side and repeat twice. Don't forget the cushion you sit on everytime you get out the car.

Good luck hope all goes well, I was really nervous but there really is no need to be.

Still no reply nearly 3 months now. Called manpower today they didn't have a start date still and they recommended to call once a week to keep updated. I hate this wait now it's a killer!

What number do you ring for updates ?
  • My son goes for his manual assessment tomorrow. I hope he does well. It sounds like they haven't changed the format all that much since I started at the Austin all of those years ago. I remember having to fit a number of colour-coded wires together, fit a piece of trim and then fit a spare wheel in a certain time.

I guess the best way is to follow the instructions, try not to panic and work methodically. Fingers crossed he should be OK. If he gets a job there he'll be following our family tradition in the car industry (me and my great uncle worked at the Austin, my dad and my brother and loads of mates at LR and my uncle at the Jaguar).

    Fingers crossed!!

    :)

    Advice plz...
Hubbie recieved email 5th may to confirm succesful manual assessment & would be in touch re next stage of application.
This morning recieved email saying thanks for application but all vacancies at JLR Halewood filled now!!!
Does this mean he will be called for interview when other vacancies become available or does he have to start all over again with the online assessment???
Also if all the vacancies are filled at Halewood why are people still going for manual assessments???
Doesn't seem fair if he has to start all over again if another recruitment drive when he successfully completed the manual assessment...he's gutted!!!
    Any ideas???

Not sure about halewood but I know I have contacted manpower about a start date to be told that they don't have any and to wait another 2-3 weeks, yet there are still recruiting. Sounds like they are over recruiting invade people leave and drop out etc. That sounds like there may be a wait!
