Hi Gaz, when did you get your start date?

    Congrats
  • Spoke to Manpower today and was told at present, there are no further start dates in the pipeline.

Yeah I rang them just now to check. When I phoned before the lady said that when they get new start dates they pick people based on their assessment performance, but the girl I spoke to just said there is no 'method' used to pick people for the positions.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
  • Not sure how they can differentiate really. Some may have done better in the manual side, some on the computer tests and some may have given better answers at the final interview. I would have thought the fairest way would be to allocate jobs in date order of having passed all stages, unless there was a specific role that a candidate was qualified in.

Hi guys, thought I would add my experience to the list of many others here on the forums. I have frequented the forums since starting the application process in the summer last year and have found it to be a great resource for information so thanks to everyone who has contributed.

Basically I originally applied for the Castle Bromwich plant jobs and after the initial application in the summer, was informed that the work had dried up and applications were on hold. towards the end of the year I was contacted and offered the chance to re-apply for a position as they were now recruiting again so I did my online app and I had my manual assesment in Dec.

On the 15th Jan I had my final stage interview at SBC and shortly after recieved a confirmation email to say I was sucsessful and would hear back shortly (yeah right)

In Feb I recieved the email that other people on here have recieved that basicay says app's have ended.

I was constantly phoning and checking with them during these stages, and I can not stress how important this is. I told them that I would be willing to work at Solihull numerous times and this seems to have paid off because I recieved a phone call this morning inviting me to start at Solihull on monday.

    However

It seems (this is what I was told on the phone), I am the "backup guy" and I will only commence training if someone decides not to turn up for their training, which is kinda crap just waiting in the balance, but the plus side is that being the backup guy means if everyone does turn up then I am definately going to start on the 25th. But this is confusing because as far as everyone is aware and from what people are being told, there are no future start dates.

To me it seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors and everyone at manpower talks in riddles to throw you off the fact that the process for recruitment is very sporadic, however everyone should keep up hope, they are still employing at Land Rover and if you are waiting keep on them and inform them you want to work at either of the sites to keep your name in the hat.

Hope this helps some of the people out there.

    Regards.

    Got told Monday mate.
  • Hey everyone

Signed up just for this thread. Did my manual assessment last month, and got a call yesterday inviting me to an interview on the 12th.

Does anybody have any advice for the interview. I really really need this job. What kind of questions do they ask?

Also can anyone who is working tell me about the work hours/shifts and when the breaks are and for how long. Someone told me by law companies have to offer an hours lunch break? But from what I've heard JLR only have a 15 min break?

With regards the interview, sorry you'll have to take your chances like everyone else ;). Don't worry it's not too hard there are no trick questions and the interviewers are all human. :rotfl:

As for shifts, it will depend on the area you are working.

I am on days and night, fortnight about. (At Castle Brom)

    Days - 6.45 - 3.15, one 20min break, 35min lunch and 10min break.
Nights -8.15 - 6.00, breaks the same apart from last one which is slightly longer due to longer shift.

Other blocks are on different shifts and they are all changing around anyway.

Whoever told you that by law they have to give you an hour lunch break doesn't know what they are talking about!
  • Is anyone still getting calls regarding the positions at JLR? I recently received an email from manpower saying that due to the number of applicants that have already completed all stages of the application process, they won't be putting me through the manual assessment. But this morning I received a call from 0121 384 8200, which seems to be direct from JLR. I couldn't take the call as I was driving and I can't call the number back as it seems to be outgoing calls only. I applied through manpower for a production operative role, but also direct for a skilled trade vacancy.

Has anybody else received a call from this number that could shed some light on what it could be regarding, or a number that I can contact jag recruitment direct?

    Many thanks
