manual assessment at Jag/Land Rover

Hi all!!
I haven't posted in a while, last time I posted I had my interview and was in the same position as many people are in now ... waiting for the phone call from Manpower!
My personal advice is DO NOT wait for Manpower to call you as you could be one of the unlucky ones who are waiting months and months for that call.
What I did was I asked the guy who interviewed me how long it would take for Manpower to get back to me about the outcome of the interview he said it would take 7 days max. Which I knew wouldn't be true.
So two weeks after my interview I called the national recruitment centre and said that I had my interview two weeks ago and still haven't found out the outcome of the interview even though Manpower had said it would not take longer that 7 days.
The person who answered my call said that fine let me give you the number for Manpower at Jag.
By this point I was quite surprised due to hearing stories of people being told the same excuse when calling that number.
I called Manpower at Jag told them the same thing and she checked my file and said yep congratulations you have been successful you are just waiting for a start date. To which I then told her I would prefer to work at Land Rover instead of Jag due to Land Rover being closer. They said that was fine and they then gave me the number for Manpower at Land Rover and to just ask them if they had any starting dates.
Called Manpower asked if they had any starting dates I got transferred to a woman called Lisa who double checked if I had to hand in a notice and then she gave me a start date which was 11th Feb (I called Manpower 31st Jan) So if people are waiting for start dates for Jag ask if you can work at Land Rover instead.
Yes I am aware that Manpower are probably doing their best but sometimes a little push is all they need!
Also about pay when you start you are on £10.43 p/h for the first two weeks of training because that is day shift rate.
Then MOST people will be put on 3 shift rotation of Mornings, afternoons and nights.
So one week you will do mornings, next week it is nights and the following is afternoons and it rotates like that. Which is paid at £12.84 p/h
Hope this helps people.

Don't rely on them they are users take my advice and keep looking for something else.i know the money's good, but I've spoken to someone who worked at jag via manpower and they keep stopping/starting you, so over a period of time the money is crap because the work isn't regular enough.i passed all the tests and interviews jan 7th but have heard nothing.have got a nice little job locally now, less money but low travel costs and regular work .good luck but don't hold your breath.
Really? Are you talking about recently or more historically?
I'm working with people who are nearing their 1 year and going onto JLR contracts.0 -
Hello!
I had my final interview on the 24th of January and i was told that i will receive an answer in maximum 7 days but i didn't hear from them since. I've sent them an email this week but i didn't receive any answer.
What you suggest i should do? Should i give them a call?
My cousin is saying that is a good sign i didn't receive any answer yet because he received a refuse in just 3 days...
Thank you!0 -
Danutz87 - Give them a call. It seems the best way to get a response.0

Thank you,Dave! I will give them a call on Monday. It's annoying to wait and knowing nothing.0

It was the same for most of us, I waited for around 2 months I think.0

It is not a problem if i have to wait for a while but they should give us an answer if we are successful or not quicker.
I hope i get the answer soon0 -

I hope so, i've been at an interview for skilled trades on 1/12/2012, and till now i dont hear anything from them, on 30 december i had sent an email to them regarding my application, and they said that my application was currently under review and that they will be in contact with me once a decision has been made... so let's wait..... this silence is killing me, and because i am an international candidate.... lets hope for the best!

Hi guys, I have passed all my assesments and have my interview tomorrow. The guy from manpower informed me that i had came 9th out of the 500 and something people who had passed all assessments which is good news. However i am very nervous about the interview as i have never had a formal interview before. Could anyone give me any tips or a heads up on the kind of questions i can expect. Any info will be very much appreciated. Cheers0
